Tormentfan: Open VLC, right click window when playing a video go to Video>aspect ratio and make sure it's default, close program. Then when you restart it should start in default AR.
sloganvirst: Not sure you understand, it is already on default, I want it to always start in 4:3.
Well if it's already on default then that IS the default of the video.. the video has been encoded at 16:9 instead of 4:3.. so in that case.. no, there isn't a way, it's the encodes fault, you'll have to do it manually.
Crosmando: Don't use VLC, it's rubbish.
If you must use a codec pack, use CCCP, but ideally you should download the latest build of MPC-HC and your preferred splitter (Haali or LAV), and set it up yourself.
Rubbish.. Vlc is probably the best player on the market. Anyway, why bother downloading and installing a whole bunch of codecs when you don't need them? Vlc runs everything under the moon (bar some really obsucer stuff) in it's own package.
Anyway, the thread wasn't which Media player is the best, the guy was asking a question, which not only didn't you even try to answer it, but even the player you mention couldn't even do what he wants...... So exactly what is the relevence of your post?
