If the free game for the 100th release on GOG.com wasn't enough of surprise for you, we're giving you a sneak peek at our new feature - Virtual Game Shelf 2.0
From time to time, Destro is tossing some info about the upcoming "Update 2", but it seems we'll see a cool, new feature before the big update will launch. GOG.com's Design&Development Team is proud to give you the first look at brand new [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/30112304@N03/3404345660/sizes/o/]Virtual Game Shelf in version 2.0. Now your shelf will get covered in dust and litter with trash, the games you play the most will get your fingerprints on their boxes and if you won't look after your shelf, spiders will spin their webs. Luckily you'll have an anti-dust spray to keep everything fresh and clean and you'll be able to add a personal touch by placing your favourite action figure or a teddy bear from your girlfriend. Check out the screenshot here!

JudasIscariot: I bet the GOG guys and gals are probably thinking " What? They actually WANT this?? OK whose idea was this?? Because they are going to make this happen now!!" XD.

Well, as soon as we started to discuss the original virtual shelf idea (witch was born a long time ago), we immediately got a million silly ideas what the shelf should do (dust, spider webs, action figures, and a few more that I won't mention ;). This is the usual way of gog creative meetings. But in the end you have to say "stop" when it all goes out of hand.
Having that said we sure will be bringing some nifty cool features to the shelf in the future. Be sure to follow Destro (our lead designer) for updates on that matter :)
I must say that action figures of the games we've bought would be freakin awesome.
Jade could guard my action adventure shelf, a brotherhood of steel trooper could guard my RPG shelf, a shivan dreadnough for my sim shelf, a cannon fodder soldier for my shooter shelf & john cord for my adventure shelf...
Damn, now I want that...

For my shelf, I would have Kurt Hectic, Duke Nukem, the thief looking guy from The Guild Gold.
Another cool feature that may never happen becaue it would be too awesome would be to have the various game figures just roaming around on the shelf having a little life of their own...

I think GOG would have to be a full application for that level of functionality
Hmm I just had a thought, Jade from BG&E making out with Farrah from POP:SoT... yeah I might not leave the shelf...

Jade and BOS action figures would be awesome. Or maybe a pip-boy bobblehead. And Joey from Beneath a Steal Sky. That would be all kinds of awesome.

That is amazing. I've been getting into collection manager software lately, and this would have, by far, been the coolest I've ever seen, had it not turned out to be a joke.
You guys came up with the idea, now make it happen!

Stiler: It would make it look more "homely" if that makes sense.

Zolgar: .. "Homey"
'homely' means 'ugly' >.>

You might want to look that up again :p, homely can mean ugly, but it can also mean what I meant.

Namur: I don't want it.
I spend enough time staring at the 1.0 shelf as it is.

ElPixelIlustre: I already got seven real shelves full of videogames to clean (though I never do). I don't know if I want another virtual shelf in my cleaning list.

Uh... you do realise this is a joke, right?

Yep. We also have April's Fool here in Portugal. Dia das Mentiras.

Fenixp: You forgot those from Duke!

If you wanted action figures of the duke strippers, you could make them out of lego, it'd be the only way to get the fully aliased look

Learn something new every day, because in my entire life (almost 25 years) I've never heard it used in any other reference hee.
