If the free game for the 100th release on GOG.com wasn't enough of surprise for you, we're giving you a sneak peek at our new feature - Virtual Game Shelf 2.0
From time to time, Destro is tossing some info about the upcoming "Update 2", but it seems we'll see a cool, new feature before the big update will launch. GOG.com's Design&Development Team is proud to give you the first look at brand new [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/30112304@N03/3404345660/sizes/o/]Virtual Game Shelf in version 2.0. Now your shelf will get covered in dust and litter with trash, the games you play the most will get your fingerprints on their boxes and if you won't look after your shelf, spiders will spin their webs. Luckily you'll have an anti-dust spray to keep everything fresh and clean and you'll be able to add a personal touch by placing your favourite action figure or a teddy bear from your girlfriend. Check out the screenshot here!

dang I actually think it looks good (minus the whole spider thing/dusting).
Being able to stack your games sideways/lean them and have a simple little teddybear/nic-nac to put on your shelf (could eve n have some related to a specific game or through contests) I think would actually be neat.
It would make it look more "homely" if that makes sense.
I don't want it.
I spend enough time staring at the 1.0 shelf as it is.
I already got seven real shelves full of videogames to clean (though I never do). I don't know if I want another virtual shelf in my cleaning list.

Uh... you do realise this is a joke, right?
OMG, It was April Fools Day.
Bah!
And theres me thinking wouldn't it be cool if the boxes were slightly battered too.

Mmm... yes I do. Do you?
You know...though I'm aware it was April fools joke, I really like that idea :)

.. "Homey"
'homely' means 'ugly' >.>
In other news. For me this year was remarkably sparse on April Fools jokes, none of the forums I frequent got gag posts.. nothing weird happened.
City of Heroes had their April Fools joke which was similar to the Witcher one (only better. A Text-based MMO!)
I saw this one when I specifically decided to check and see if GOG did anything for april Fools, so I was anticipating it being a joke...
But like most others, I love the idea.
and it kinda reminds me of last year when .. IGN had the trailer for the Zelda movie up, that's one I fell for though...
And in the end GOG will make fools of us all by actually releasing something similiar... :-D
I can be such an idiot sometimes.
I admit that I've believed this, during few minutes.
But the "the games you play the most will get your fingerprints on their boxes" sentence was really a clue that it was a joke. How could the GOG virtual shelves know what games I play the most? Without DRM and/or internet authentification at each start of a game, it seems impossible.
Anyway, great April's Fool! And somehow, it could actually be a cool real feature ;p

You know, I've always admired how you can elevate the intellectual level of a conversation. You are so humble, you choose your words very wisely. I really really admire that, keep it up.

I do what I can.
I bet the GOG guys and gals are probably thinking " What? They actually WANT this?? OK whose idea was this?? Because they are going to make this happen now!!" XD.
I actually like this idea! I wouldn't mind at all if they did this.
I can't believe people want this. Why add the clutter of real life to the web? Part of the reason why I like digital more is that it is clean and simple.
That being said, I'd love to see other wood designs for the bookcase.
