Madworlds OST is fairly awesome, and it tends to fit in the rap genre (Still badass though, do yourself a favor and listen to it.)
Some of my favorite soundtracks from older to newer:

Mega Man 2
Super Metroid
Unreal Tournament
GTA: Vice City
Bastion
Hotline MIami
The original C&C always does it for me. Act on Instinct is still one of my favorites... that and Hell March from Red Alert.

I like Just Do It Up, No Mercy, and C and C Thang on that one as well. A lot of it reminds me of Art Of Noise.

Wanna hear something funny? I always hated the "Hell March" which didn't even deserve that title - until I played the English version of Red Alert. Turns out that in the German version of Red Alert the marching sound and the voice sample were cut out. You have no idea what a difference this makes. When I ran the English version of the game and it started with that epic marching sound my mind was blown. :D

And totally agree on Act on Instinct. For me it's one of the best tracks ever composed for a video game. Also it's among the few game tracks I played on the piano and which still sounded great. :D Frank Klepacki really is one of the greatest, only the Tiberian Sun soundtrack is IMO rather disappointing compared to the other ones.

I did not know that about Hell march, I'm going to have to find a copy of that.

I always wanted to know what was up with Tiberian Sun's soundtrack. Its a really good game but it would of really benefited from another kick ass soundtrack from Klepacki.
I have always loved the OSTs to:
Chrono Cross
Valkyrie Profile
Star Ocean Second Story
Mega Man Legends
Mega Man Legends 2
Rule of Rose
Silent Hill 2
The Secret of Monkey Island

Tiberian Sun did have a kick ass soundtrack by Klepacki (and Jarrid Mendelson). Tracks like Mad Rap and Valves really gave the game an amazing atmosphere. I found the TS soundtrack to be actiony in its own way, but mostly about setting the mood, and I don't know any other RTS with such a great mood/atmosphere.

/edit: and the expansion pack had Killing Machine for those who prefer actiony in their war torn somewhat apocalyptic world

Did it for you (kinda). THIS is a link to the original German Red Alert intro. Obviously the Hitler scene is missing and you can hear the censored version of the Hell March.

Generally I think that no other game series has been butchered as much as the German versions of C&C. At least in the older games all soldiers are replaced by androids with black blood and also some other stuff is missing. For example the first briefing from the Soviet campaign is heavily altered, you won't hear anything about civilians there, in the last cutscene of the Allies you won't see the the "good guy" kill Stalin, in C&C 1 you won't see Seth die, there's just noise and suddenly he's being pushed away by Kane, the cutscenes where soldiers shoot each other are missing... lots of shit has been done to this series. Oh yeah, and fuck the fact that it doesn't make any sense that Tiberium is lethal to androids. :P

Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy IX have the best OSTs of the series to me, also I like a few of other games battle themes etc. FFX seemed kind of bland to me after the masterpiece that is IX and after Nobuo left the series music went down the shitter, although XIII-2 sounds not bad actually. Other great Soundtracks?
VVVVVV
Bastion
Painkiller: Black
The Last Story, yeah, I am a Nobuo Fanboy ;)
Zelda OoT(the other games are fine too, but OH GOD THE GERUDO VALLEY)
Halo has a really pleasant score.
Skyrim's Soundtrack, especially the main theme is the best part about the game.(Yeah, I prefer the heavy choir themed stuff to the classic Morrowind/Oblivion themes)
Metroid games have fine music, too.
Sorry if this is all a bit too console centric. But I expect not to be flamed since people here seem to be more mature and less painstakingly stupid.
There are a ton of other good OSTs but those are what popped into my mind.

Most of the soundtracks are bland and boring these days, I start to feel sick the moment I hear orchestrated music most of the time. The perfect run of the mill we are as cool as Hans Zimmer music. No memorable tunes and melodies anymore, back then when the technical limitations for music were horrendous they managed to produce the most interesting melodies and themes. It is a shame that music in games, or in general, doesn't get the respect and care it deserves most of the time and yet it is those games with tunes we hum during the day and melodies that connect us to the piece fiction that ultimately helps in forging brilliant experience that we will remember for years to come.
A few of my personal favorites:
- Turrican 1 - 3
- Crusader
- Deus Ex
- Das Schwarze Auge Nordlandtrilogie (Realms of Arkania Northlandtrilogy)
- TFX
- Gemini Rue
- Fallout 1 & 2

viperfdl: - Turrican 1 - 3
How is it that whenever someone mentions Turrican or Chris Hülsbeck on these forums there's like a 99% chance that he's German? ^^ (which includes me, since I grew up over there)
Should i post a screenshot of my game music folder?

I love the soundtracks of:

- FF 1,4,6,7,8,9,10
- Dragon Quest
- Jade Cocoon
- Trine
- Persona 4
- Dark Cloud 1 & 2
- Chrono Cross & Trigger
- The Blackwell Series
- Age of Wonders
- Command & Conquer 1
- Air Combat
- Disgaea 1 & 2
- Kingdom Hearts
- Skullmonkeys
- The Witcher 1 & 2
- Vandal Hearts

There are so many great soundtracks but mostly limited to rpg's and adventure/platform

Why not? xD would be glad to see what you did with your collection.
I would wholeheartedly suggest this to any videogame fan.
