Though I would describe the "dynamic music" gimmick as a more linear thing due to it's cinematic nature / affect on games against the immersion of the more abstracted / ambient styles, I otherwise totally agree with you.

Ahh, Trine's soundtrack was beautiful.

The Opera music of Heroes of Might and Magic 2-4 always fascinated me. I mean a strategy game with opera singers and texts from Nietzsche, its just awesome. (Deine wilden Hunde, sie wollen in die Freiheit!)

I've always liked the Rise of Nations soundtrack. It's very enjoyable, even outside the game, in my opinion.

Ah yes, I remember listening to the Crysis 2 soundtrack a few years before, one track attracted my attention specifically, I don't remember the exact title but I believe it was for one of the (if not the) last missions of the game.

One personal favorite is the soundtrack for Remedy games, such as Alan Wake and Max Payne. They often team up with an Indie band called Poets of the Fall for many of their scores. I am personally a fan of both the studio and the band and would recommend works from both if these two to any music/game enthusiast who would want to go further into deep stories accompanied by great music.

Two Worlds (I liked it so much I went to the trouble of extracting them out of the game file)

I hadn't even thought to look if the soundtrack was included with the game on GOG. You prompted me to check my downloads page and there it was being ignored by me. So I nabbed it and added it to my collection of VGSTs.

Personally I consider Inon Zur one of the most overrated game composers ever. :P He isn't bad but I expect a LOT more from one of the biggest names of the industry.

Some of my favorites, the ones that get replayed the most anyway, are the American' McGee's Alice OST and the Command and Conquer OST, as well as the rips from Doom when I am in a bit music mood. :) Fallout has good stuff usually, some nice period tunes mixed in with ambient stuff. The stuff from the ancient game Terra Nova and also Thief are good, Eric Brosius did those and I like his stuff usually, plus his wife does vocals on some of them. She was the voice of Shodan from System Shock and Viktoria from Thief, so it is cool to hear her sing as well. Flatout has some nice tunes, peppy pop stuff but decent, and the Redneck Rampage stuff is a kick too, Mojo Nixon, Beat Farmers, and Reverend Horton Heat are all in there.

The Red Carpet track from the World of Good soundtrack is simply amazing.

Hotline Miami (haven't played it but I've heard the music) has a killer electronic soundtrack. Especially the stuff by M.O.O.N
