I can't control my dreams. This study is bullcrap.

ceemdee: Not waking up is all I care about. I don't really want control of my dreams because then they would lose that oh-what's-going-to-happen-next movie feel. However I'd rather be late for work than wake up from some of the dreams I've had!

Lucid dreaming is pretty much modding the dream instead of playing around in it, like leaving the audience seat for the director's chair. It's a cool experience of it's own.
While I like waking up from weird dreams or nightmares, I really hate when I'm given something really cool or I earn or find something valuable only to wake up and find out it doesn't exist.

http://www.lucidity.com/
I found that website when I was looking into the subject not for myself, but because I wanted to create a character for a story that had dream sharing talents a la Freddy Krueger and such. They sort of explain the thing and give steps to induce lucid dreams, though I've never tried any of it and I can't really tell if there's any scientific evidence behind it. All I can say is that I did have one once so they can happen. Gamers being more prone to it is debatable.

Sometimes when I had been stuck on a certain portion of a game for a while I'd end up dreaming about playing it but always wake up before I got past that part. Though I suppose it was better than dreaming about a solution only to find out it didn't actually work. :)
I've dreamt up solutions to problems and they make so much sense in the dream. Everything fits! Everything works! Then you wake up and stupid things like physics, gravity or not having a backyard because you live in an apartment ruin your morning.
Well, that explains a lot indeed!
I've had several dreams where I know it's a dream. But usually, that about it though. I don't get to control things or shape the dream the way I want, I just know that this thing is not real. It's not that I want full control all the times, since I do love my own dream logic.
But that study is very interesting on many parts. On the aggressive part, I do indeed fit in. I'm not an aggressive person at all, but when I get aggressive on my dreams: oh boy, get out of my way. I can easily do inhuman things, like break body parts and stuff.
On one last note, I think people here is confusing Lucid Dreams with Dream Control.
Very rarely do I gain some control in my dreams. Most of the time it's a roller coaster for me that is a mind screw. Maybe I should learn how to control my dreams so I can roundhouse kick zombies or various people that try to kill me in my dreams.
My dreams always have shoddy movement control for some reason.
I can't remember any lucid dreams X(
I love dreaming, it's like a sort of free acid-trip, but i always get jealous when a friend of mine tells me about being being aware in his dreams. He always sees himself sitting in a chair and watching his own dreams happen, and giving commentaries to the stuff that happens..?!

Mate, I'd probably to start to worry when those dreams abandon the surrealism. ;)
However, if you ever run into a cougar that plays billiards - run for your life. Ooooh, hang on.. If you apply interpretation, all I have to say in regards to the cougar is, you sly dog, you. =P

Yeah, anytime i want to kick someone it turns out the floor is kinda icy, and i trip. Same sh.t when i run, either i'm trip on air, or having boots of lead. Seems glitchy, someone should patch it up. ;D

She looks like an 11 year old compared to me. And yes, I am the older one.

I wasn't referring to the girlfriend... ;)
Of course, it was only in jest.

lol. Creepo. =)
Yeah, the hard part is realizing that you're dreaming.
I play tons of games. I've had dreams where I was inside games (or movies, or whatnot), and I knew the plot and the secrets and what I needed to do etc. But at no point did I realize that "hey, I must be dreaming."
