Share your Good Old Gaming memories and get up to five $9.99 games!

We are all retrogamers at heart and our identities are built on the foundation of classic gaming memories. We know you have plenty of those as well. Memories, that is, not identities (and even if, let’s just not go there). We would like to give you an opportunity to tell us about your very own greatest classic gaming moments and grab some free games in the process!

"Let's play" videos seem to be all the craze these days. But they’re so 2010’s. Let’s do something with more of a retro-feel. Let's talk about the classics! Tell us your "GOGgame Story"! There has to be at least one game on your GOG.com shelf that holds a special place in your heart. One that you think of more like an old friend than just an item of electronic entertainment. Recall the good times you had with it, record a video and upload it to YouTube to share your love for classics with the world and get a chance to grab some free games!

To put it in six simple steps:

1. Look at GOG.com catalogue of games.
Choose one that you feel like you have much to tell about.

2. Make a "GOGgame Story":
a video of some in-game footage, your commentary, and maybe even you in person--just about anything that will spice up your video.

3. Please include the following screen at the end of your video.
The image is provided in 720p resolution. If your video is smaller, re-scale or crop, but keep the 16:9 aspect ratio.

4. Upload your "GOGgame Story" to YouTube.
Call it something like "[Game Title], a GOGgame Story, by [YourGOGForumNickname]" and make it public. Also, please include the following text in the video’s description: “The game in this video is available on http://www.GOG.com”.

5. Provide a link to your video in the thread below.

6. Profit!*

* Starting next week, each Friday till the end of November, the video with the most views will be awarded with 5 codes (each for a $9.99 game). The same prize will go to the author of the most cereative video (Mr. A, our Video Ninja will be the judge of that). Yet another pack of 5 codes will be given to the author of GOG's favorite video (by popular vote of our whole staff). Three runner-up prizes, 1 code each, will be handed out as well. Ingenuity, humor, and creativity will be taken into account. Multiple entries are allowed. A public list of winning videos will be held in the forum. Picking a game that didn’t already have a winning video created for it, will improve your chances. As well as wearing a monocle and a top hat in the video. Just kidding. Or...?

That’s the whole deal - pick a classic game that you love from GOG.com catalogue, tell the internets your "GOGgame Story", get free games. Sounds pretty easy, eh? Well, ladies and gentlemen, start your cameras!

F4LL0UT: I don't get the point of rewarding the viewcount. Oh yeah, a high viewcount means that the participants did a great job at advertizing GOG but a high viewcount comes from having an already popular channel which is an achievement unrelated to this compo. It's just wrong. :P
At least GOG was smart enough to have it based on number of likes, something that can be very easily trolled.

As there are more winning categories than just highest viewcount I personally don't have a problem with it. YouTube's all about the views, gog can't just ignore that!
Can we do more than one, or can we only have one entry per week? This was a lot of fun, and I have a great idea for another game I have.
'Multiple entries are allowed.' I'm hoping to get another video out in the next couple of days as well.
Finally after two weeks of writing (many scripts) and filming, it's time to release my GOG game story on Evil Genius! I hope you guys enjoy it!

I had a sore throat the night of recording so I apologise for my mumbling voice. I didn't say it in this version, but I'm not showing any late game footage as it's half the fun discovering what's available, and I didn't want to spoil it. I chose the 'witty' version as it suited the game much better!

Haha! I hope your plan succeeds!

I really enjoyed making the video, so much so, I might draft up another one!

Well that's close timing! Glad to see some more Evil Genius love, wish I had the same voice as you did (it was a tad hard with a sore throat to do those dramatic lines!)

Awesome video! That makes me want to try that game out.

I will most likely be doing a video on 'Another World/Out Of This World' before Friday. Been busy trying to make a video on the Wii U. Seriously, it's so hard to shoot video of a screen on a controller when that controller moves around.
Great videos, guys!
My humble attempt at making a GOGstory. I chose Pro-Pinball: Big Race USA:

Here's my second video: Might and Magic II: Gates to Another World

I'm really happy how it turned out. I had a lot of fun making it (though I should probably be studying!), and once again, for those who are interested in these kinds of things, it's subtitled in both English and Spanish. Enjoy everyone!

Flaose! That was awesome! I loved seeing the physical book and notes, and while I never had the change to experience these games as a child (I grew up with a N64, the PS2's were for the rich families haha) this video made me feel the excitement of starting the game for the first time! The day you 'pushed X' must have been a great day indeed.

Even though I've entered the competition myself, I hope you get a prize for this video. Brilliant job! Good timing too, as I presume the cut off for this week will be soon (well, it's 1PM Friday for me in NZ, but I presume it will be Saturday or Sunday for me when the results are out).

PS. I'm jealous of your gaming room.
