They can quite easily make them only playable, if you have the Origin client running.
There's a way to solve this, and Enhanced Steam app does just that: show games recently released on Steam only, or show games recetly released. That way, we have a place for all the old stuff (I mean Putt-Putt and Pep's Balloon-o-rama just came out for crying out loud! I played this game so much as a kid, the data carrier it was on completely deteriorated) and have a nice and clean home store page, with only the new releases.

That's the question. Anyone with an Steam/Origin/Uplay... account is doing everyone a disservice. Stop buying DRM, idiots!

The only confusing thing about this is that they still don't offer American McGee's Alice anywhere, which would be the first good old game I'd expect them to revive (after all, they already gave it away with pre-orders of Madness Returns).

Isn't there a "deluxe" or something similar version of Alice: Madness Returns that you can buy on Amazon that includes American McGee's Alice? I seem to recall seeing that on sale on Amazon and I didn't buy it because you had to have Origin.

Dunno, I couldn't find it on Amazon.de, only for the PS3. In any case, I wonder why they don't sell it on its own. Of course, I'd rather they'd also sell it on GOG, but I'm puzzled why they don't even officially sell it on Origin, if it's already available there in some form. (And especially now that they act like they're aware there's a demand for their good old games.)

Ultima I: The First Age of Darkness is priced as 4.95€. Who the hell put these prices? I mean, sure, 6€ or $6 for the first Ultima Trilogy would be a good price (even if I still think is a high price). But 5€/$5 for EACH game?!

PS3 version is a trap. It doesn't include the original Alice game, it includes a DLC code that is a one time use. Or at least the one I had was... Worse is you can't play the original game unless you have the disc in for madness returns.
You know you get discounts at Safeway by using their Safeway club card. All you have to do is let them know your spending habits... A nice big database that tells how often you buy carrots, carrots in bulk, frozen carrots, mixed veggies, stir-fry, freeze-dried... Plus not only how often, but what towns/states you bought them in, if you used credit card, cash, food stamps, coupons.

What? You didn't think you were part of a club and were getting stuff discounted because they were being nice, did you?

I don't know, but I doubt they can gather shit from me playing Assassin's Creed in Singleplayer. Only Ubisoft game I've played online this past console generation was Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, so in case of a war, I'm either on their recruitment list, or not.

Computer statistics, OS preference, how many hours at a time you play in a single sitting, if you do keyboard/mouse or controller, if you do micro transactions and what kind. Other games you have installed (at least form their client, possibly more). If you have other programs running in the background, and what they are, If you enjoy using cheat codes or not, if you pause often in order to get snacks/drinks.

If they are sadistic they can shove a stream of Ads at you as well... probably at loading screens. They could activate your microphone and monitor everything they hear you talking to someone else (via phone or next to eachother) by passively listening...

Yeah, I think we can add EA to the growing list of "companies that don't care about GOG anymore". I'm fully expecting all future classics from EA to have timed Origin exclusivity, and saying "timed" is being extremely generous. Yeah, I know they just gave us Sim City 4, but SC4 is on everything at this point. If it had been Sim City 3000, I'd agree they still care about us.

EA doesn't care about a lot of things, including their own reputation. So many companies they've gobbled up and then forced to give out really shitty games. Noah Antwiler goes into detail of how much EA screwed up the last couple Ultima games. But that's not my favorite game/franchise. Likely they see a big enough pie slice they are saying 'why bother selling these things at a discount? We can sell them individually for more!'

But likely on their other site they have probably been concentrating on newer titles, so only one screen away you have Mirror's Edge right next to their Ultima series... Heavy DRM 3D game next to 80's/90's pixel graphic games...

I play Assassin's Creed on PS3. There is not even a client for Uplay and unless you sign up for their website and log into PSN at the same time, they can't monitor shit.
