While I love buying games from GoG, the verified access stuff is a massive pain in the ***. Considering that Verified Access in itself requires me to select a LESS SECURE password because of it's insane limitations on length, size, type of blood, moon colors, dates, so on I literally have to reset my password each time.
Worse yet, I tried to buy Sacrifice tonight, after finding out that yeah, I've played that game before, but the Verified Access system is so not user friendly (and at the moment broken, I could reset or register my cards) that I just can't purchase it.
I know Verified Access isn't GoG's, but maybe... just maybe they'll consider not using it at some point once they are established. I'm still fighting with my credit union to remove it from my online banking.

Yeah, Verified Access is a huge annoyance and credit card companies are seeing that as a necessary evil, similar to DRM.
However, in the case of credit cards, I see their point. Online credit card fraud is far too easy these days and I rather like the idea of a little extra protection for my money. The last thing I want is some disgruntled employee at some store just taking my credit card number and buying himself a whole ton of junk from Amazon.
As for removing Verified Access, I think most banks generally require online stores to use this system and I don't think GOG will be able to get rid of it without reworking their whole payment system with a different bank.
The only thing I can recommend is to use an alternative like Paypal. I believe they allow you to have as secure a password as you like and there's no Verified Access hoops that you have to jump through there.

Yes, I didn't expect the possibility. I am merely frustrated, I got my purchases done, but apparently the Verified Access systems were down for a good ten minutes right when I was trying to finish it.
Overall, the system itself is absolutely laughable as far as security goes, especially on the bank's site.

LOL! I never said the Verified Access system was fool-proof. The fact that you can't choose a secure password tells how bad it actually is. But as I said, I'm still glad for the little extra protection it provides.
Seriously, though, I'd recommend taking a look at Paypal. It's a decent system and, at worst, a good alternative if Verified Access is down.

Just to let you know paypalsucks looks to AVG just like paypal so its popping up the social engineering/phishing alert. LOL. I have never had trouble with paypal (other that them wanting a bank account number ... sheesh) [knock on wood]. But paypaysucks has

*shrug* I don't know what to tell you. I mean, I've heard those same horror stories about most of the banks in the world, too. It doesn't stop me from using banks though.

At the time I was trying to make a purchase, attempting to verify the "password" I had assigned failed, followed by trying to make a new one failed. It was as if the database couldn't be read.
It didn't indicate that the password or information was wrong, just stating "There was an error, please try again." (along those lines).
