Well... if Vanguard Princess seems a game for GOG. Why this isn't in GOG?

I don't understand, Vanguard Princess want to be in GOG with DRM?

If that is the case then I could understand, but any other reason does not seem justifiable.

ReynardFox: I can't nail down exactly what the DRM is, some say it's SecuROM, others say it requires request of a 24-hour key to install, others say it has a one time activation, I can't get a straight answer, not even from the publisher themselves.
I'd be seeing a few claims that the SecuROM had been removed and replaced with some kind of custom DRM à la Depth Hunter or Dawnstar.
I always try to tell people about GOG and feel like it doesn't get the attention it deserves, then hearing about them rejecting games on their service feels weird. They must be doing better than I thought doing pretty well to be able to do that.

That being said, I do understand why they refused it, look at the two other fighting games here: Street Fighter Alpha and Guilty Gear Isuka, stablished franchises that have been here for a while now yet if you look at the games arranged by sales they are very, very low on the list. Naturally GOG thought that a relatively unknown indie fighting game would sell even less.

Still, while GOG does seem to have an interest in curating the games on their service, I would prefer if they just accepted everyone and let the chips fall where they may.
...unless said game has DRM. That is still a possible reason for the rejection of Vanguard Princess. That game has some form of DRM as it is sold now and if the publishers were unwilling to drop that, GoG had no other choice but to say: well, then you don't belong here.

Why would anyone go to a DRM-free site and ask to have their games there with DRM?

Maybe someone did that, but there's no way it was a small independent developer while bigger companies were okay with it.

The frustrating thing is, the original Japanese release of this game is FREE. Any DRM is being added by eigoMANGA, the group who've licensed and translated it.

Given the rather engrish response I got from eigoMANGA, it seems absurd, but it's possible they don't quite understand what GOG is about.

I've seen this game on amazon previously and see now it's been greenlit for steam.
Honestly, I've held off on the hopes it might end up here one day. It may never happen, but I've more or less dedicated my future purchases to GoG exclusively.

It would be nice to see a few Japanese games and maybe a visual novel or two make their way here, just to test the waters. Even if it's just one bullet hell shooter... I think I'd be content.

GOG does have a few Japanese developed games like Deadly Premonition, La-Mulana, Street Fighter Alpha 2, and Guilty Gear Isuka and X2 #Reload (probably some others that I'm foregetting). Hopefully XSEED will be bringing the Ys games here in the future, and the Carpe Fulgur-translated games are already DRM-free on GamersGate, but they were afraid the prices the developers wanted were too high for them to bring to GOG for now.

La-Mulana... where have you been all my life. I also just picked up Guilty Gear X2 and will give that a try as well.
And I've been playing the new Ys title, Memories of Celceta... honestly wasn't sure if they could improve upon 7, but they managed it.

Thanks for the recommendations
All i can say is Guilty Gear X2 is supposed to be better than the first one, i have it but havent played much of it. As to VP. Past Groupees bundle has a drm free download (without the Versus mode - uses a separate key), so it is possible to get the game drm free. Might be most likely the $$ dev was looking for.
