SirCabbage: I just hope this comes out on GOG.com.... I already legally own a copy, but I want another lol
avatar
Lone3wolf: Indeed. Just to get rid of having to use the 3 CDs to install it would be worth $5.99

I agree, but you can not use the CDs now if you want - just rip them to .ISO files and use those. That's what I do with all my older games to help spare the discs. :)
still, swaping isos is annoying to. I like the whole, one installer thing

Spacehusky: I bought it on Direct2Drive but the graphics are all screwed up >:(

cogadh: I'm guessing you have a system with more than 4GB of RAM and an Nvidia graphics card? If so, its a well-known issue with the Nvidia drivers and this game on systems with that kind of RAM, though I believe it has been fixed in a driver update.

I have 2 GB of RAM and an Nvidia card. I have a widescreen monitor so I tried to use a patcher to fix the resolution but it doesn't work and now the screen doesn't fit on the monitor.
When I first herd of it, I was interested in it but when I heard their was plenty of bugs, I avoided buying it all this time. Now that it is cheep and the fact that people have been fixing up the game, I now desire to try it. It would be nice if gog were to release this here as it would probably interest more people into this interesting game.
I gave in and finally bought this game off Steam... downloaded the user patch and all, so far so good. Went Bruja for the first play as I've heard its a good beginner class, so far I'm fairly easily tearing through all the opponents but the story line is fun. Bishop Vick just went down, although that was veeeeery close, had to back off and let my health regenerate a little while dodging.
The unofficial patch is now 7.4 http://www.patches-scrolls.de/vampire_bloodlines.php
I have the basic official version, what does this unofficial 7 point friggin 4 version add?

Also is there any other game that has had that many shades of shit patched into it? (official or otherwise)
I don't know about 7.4, but previous versions have always added skillpoint/quest fixes, cut dialogue, game fixes, cut game features, etc.

the_voivod: 7.4. It's gotten to the point where the guy's got to have extreme OCD - it can't be fun for him any more. And who wants to start the game from scratch every time a new version comes out? Well, guys like him, I guess.
Actually, the author of this patch (Werner Spahl) have for a long time "only" fixed bugs that people discovered, as there isn't anything major left to do. :)

I have spoken with the guy a couple of times (via the net), and he is a perfectly normal human being, that loves this game.
So, for the last couple of years, he has only fixed minor stuff with each update, and the game has been playable for several years with the Unofficial patch. So don't feel like you have to start over each time there is an update, just complete your playthrough and use a later version if you want to replay the game at a later date.

Each .x makes about 20-25 changes. HUGE amount of stuff has been updated / changed / added / removed.

I think I played the game with 3.6 or something like that, and you could have noticed the difference, as in, some stupid bugs were gone.

I played VtM:B using unofficial 6 point something the last time. From what I heard it fixes a lot of bugs. I have been downloading subsequent versions afterwards but have not really played that game again. I just thought that if I play it again in the future I'll have the latest unofficial patch. That's all.
This really makes me want to play VtM:B again. Unfortunately I can't do that right now (because I have work to do, but also because), the discs are at home and I am at college right now. Maybe if I remember this can be something I do over the summer. I did really enjoy the game when I played originally.

Well, Killap's Fallout 2 Unofficial patch and Restoration project comes close content and time wise.

Also Drog's unofficial patch for Arcanum and Circle of Eight Modpack for Temple of Elemental Evil fix shit ton of bugs and add/restore ton of content.

I'm sure there are others.

The unofficial patches for Oblivion. Over 10,000 fixes. I'm not overstating this, actually. The game is a mess.

Try auditing the cells (the whole game world is divided in thousand of cells) and you'll know what I'm talking about. In a single cell, in some forest part, for example, if there were 45 objects, you're sure to find that at least 15 or so of those were underground, flying above the ground, or checked for "hidden". And this is just object placement we're talking about.
