It depends on a game, actually.

For example, I was a Day of defeat player for a long time. It has dedicated servers, so I found 2-3 nice servers with nice people. Most of them were adults, had families, and were really, really good people to play with, also to talk with via mic not only about the game, but about everyday stuff too.

If a game has dedicated servers, it's not so hard to find one with mature people.

I have similar experience with Day of Defeat, mainly with the Russians and Germans.

klaymen: And when they did not?
That's a good question .
People with disabilities should be granted discounts. Like those with Tourette's syndrome. Asswipe!

Anyway, if it was based on voting during gameplay, I feel many would get low ratings just for being newbies and not knowing their way around.

Exactly. You would be downvoted by trolls, and 13-year-old kids who hate you just because you own them.

SimonG: Good thing I earn enough to be an asshole....
+1 for the LOL

And this brings up the converse: if I can play free by being a nice guy, does that give me carte blanche to be a raging prick if I paid for the game?

This is actually an interesting point. This could have the potential to be a discriminating act for people who have personality and mental disabilities or communication disorders since it is essentially the ability to charge more or less based on a personal basis.
This should be implemented if only to get rid of all the annoying people on L4D2 who just wanna ruin peoples games. Now you can't play that without encountering an asshole
Would work since people would want DOTA 2 for free and would stop being dicks to get it

Will there be a promotion for the biggest dickheads of Steam Hammer Legion ? For example a personal in-game hero ? :p
How much of a discount do I get for not showing up ever in TF2 and not screwing everyone's game with my noobskills?

Nnexxus: I'm fairly sure this wouldn't even be legal, at least in some countries. It's a form of discrimination.
Here's the beautiful part: It depends on how you word it. If you say "Asshole customers get charged more", it is illegal.

However, try something like "Valuable members of the community get discounts on their purchases". Nobody will ever be able to render that move illegal.
