Shalgroth: If you really love someone, every day should be a celebration. Fuck the status quo on needing a "day" to celebrate.
One thing doesn't exclude the other. You can celebrate whenever you want AND on Valentine's day along with everyone else if you so wish. Also, if you celebrate every day it stops being a celebration and it turns into a routine.
Just because we don't "need" a day to celebrate something doesn't mean we can't have it. We don't really need *any* holiday when you come to think of it.
"So, how's it going?"

Yyyeah. It's a logical outcome of evolution, thou - girls who aren't after money are still after a person who will make a good father for their children, they're just a bit ... more complex about it :D Still, there's always plenty of girls (I have almost written 'grils') with brains who actually prefer brains as well, it's just a matter of looking on unusual places :D
Anyway, many people are talking about the 'it's bad when you can't make a special day without a stated date' - I have no idea why, but my girl find valentine's day 'special,' somehow romantic. So when I do a nice thing I would usually do on a Valentine's day, it'll be that more special. I don't think she is the only one out there.
You have no idea.

I absolutely agree, anything in excess loses real meaning. You can definitely celebrate within yourself, rather than doing so day by day in an outwardly fashion. (I can see many a couple breaking up over that) But I've just known so many people who don't give a shit about their partners, but come Valentine's Day it's all roses, chocolates and sweet nothings.
Hook, line and sinker.
We definitely don't need holidays like Valentine's Day, and other holidays of "absolute joy". They tend to ostricize more people than satisfy them. How many people all of a sudden decide to end their lives on Valentine's Day? Or Xmas?

I'm still searching for that sort of gril. ;)
I thought I had found her, intelligent, beautiful (even though she didn't think so), honest and seemed to just want some one who could love her, and future children.
In the end, financial security meant more than all of the above.
But dear sir, I hope you're not suggesting I stake out a library. All of those books, they might taint me with some sort of intellect.

I'm talking about electronics store, of course.

Electronics stores? Pfft, all you'd get in those around here is ditzy morons buying ipods, iphones or anything with a lower case i in front of it
Yeah thats similar to my experience, I lost because of money. Not because it mattered to her but because I couldn't afford to get over there before some other bastard got into the picture (and since she's now pregnant, its not all he got into)

A little warning ahead of time might be good! ;P
Shalgroth: But dear sir, I hope you're not suggesting I stake out a library. All of those books, they might taint me with some sort of intellect.
Fenixp: I'm talking about electronics store, of course. Sadly, mostly male staff at the ones I frequent, and hardly any women who aren't over 40, and looking for shovelware to give to the kiddies. Ha, after reading Alias' post, I realised that I read "electronics store" as "uber gaming haven".
Aliasalpha: Yeah thats similar to my experience, I lost because of money. Not because it mattered to her but because I couldn't afford to get over there before some other bastard got into the picture (and since she's now pregnant, its not all he got into)
Pregnant? Ouch. You know, what happened to equality? That's what I want to know. There are so many women who are almost militant (without batting for the same team) about equal rights for females, equal pay and so on. Which is all fair and good, there's no reason females should be treated like a lesser sex.
But the absolute audacity to then expect to be looked after financially! Seriously, wtf?
I know that I sound full of hate and bordering on misogyny, but hey.. Have to let the rage out once in a while.
