Ahh valentines day, the day where people try make up for 364 days of indifference and neglect by buying overpriced shiny rocks and where sad depressed losers contemplate suicide after being barraged with endless "if you're alone you're worthless" messages by people who just want your money.
Yes I'm a cynic, its incurable I'm afraid.
That said, some of this shit is awesome. Especially this one

Hey, I'm lonely, but not depressed. In a way, I don't want a relationship. I mean, I have enough trouble doing stuff for myself, I'd never be able to keep a girlfriend unless she was inhumanly patient and laid back yet at the same time more competent and organized than me.

I bought a novelty T-shirt to commemorate the day (attached).
The pun is weak as hell (it barely even works) and is delivered badly, but these just add up to making the shirt ultra-bleak, which amuses me. Plus I like skeletons.
Actually, since the day's now over where I live, I can report that I was a lot less miserable than I expected to be*. So hooray. It's my 26th consecutive Valentine's Day spent alone, but it's unique in that it's the first where I didn't think I would be, and was actually looking forward to it. Then dumpage occured. Oh well.
I wish I could share in you guys' cynicism and lonewolfness but it turns out I'm actually a hopeless romantic and would give almost anything to be in a solid relationship right now. Sigh.
*protip: read on the bus to the work, it makes it harder to brood

Hey I'm both depressed and lonely, the only woman I've ever loved is half a planet away and I can't afford to get a taxi to the gym much less fly to finland. That said, even if I was there, I'd not be doing valentines day, I'm one of those people who loves doing absurdly convoluted, pointlessly expensive of just bizarre gifts for no reason so on a day where you're SUPPOSED to do that, I'd make that the one day where I was damn sure that wouldn't happen.

Heh, bought a book for the girl friend and some flowers. Not quite big fans of the holiday but every occasion to celebrate is good.
