Also, it's a game where keeping notes is vital. Occasionally you'll get information such as coordinates to specific star systems, or semi-vague descriptions of star systems, and you really need to write these down so you can locate them later on.

I downloaded a map and I'm marking in Paint which systems I already visited :P I upgraded a ship a few times (new offensive and defensive mechanisms for mothership :P) I think I understand the basics of combat.
I don't know why, but this game is very addictive :D

It is, it really is. It's one of those game that by all the rules of common sense should be an unplayable mess, due to its weird mashup of gameplay types (a space exploration adventure game with resource gathering, arcade combat and RPG elements), but for some reason it all comes together and makes up a fantastic game. The quirky humor is also just right for the game.
One thing though: Don't expect to complete the game on your first playthrough. The game has a built-in time limit (I won't say anything about what it is, because that would spoil the story), and so you need to complete it within a certain time frame, or you lose. I'm afraid it's rather unforgiving like that.
However, it's certainly fun enough to warrant playing through twice, and with the knowledge you should possess on your second playthrough, you shouldn't have any problems.

8 (or is it twelve) directions of movement instead of free 360 degrees seems looks a bit weird in high res, does it not?

Oooooo. I think I'll wait until it's in beta at least, but I'm definitely going to keep an eye on this.

I have a feature request though, can you add in a 960x720 mode? This is effectively the 4:3 version of 720p (not to mention exactly 3x the original resolution) and would be very useful for those of us with 1280x720 monitors. At the moment, the only way I can view the HD version is at 640x480 (which is then being scaled up by my video card).
