I usually don't see movies that look like romantic comedies, but my friend reccommended it to me at swim practice, so I went to see it. It turned out to be pretty powerful. You think this character's just this cut-out, but then the movie punches you in the face and doesn't give you the ending you expect. The idea of a character who fires people professionally may seem like it's just trying to pander towards our current state, but it serves the movie well, and I can't imagine the damage it would do the plot if that aspect were removed. One of the greatest strengths is it doesn't strive to make the audience feel good, and rips people out of their comfort zone instead. It's kind of depressing, but that makes it all the better. It doesn't feel like a cheap thrill.

Well... it DOES have George Clooney. Being in HK I'd probably expect to see it in a few months, and I'm really looking forward to it.

A movie that departs from the template? Wonder if they're in trouble for it...

I had the joy of seeing this movie a few weeks ago. It's definitely well worth seeing.

Sounds like you might also like Matchstick Men. I won't be seeing Up In The Air anytime soon considering it won't even get a cinema release until the end of March here >_<. Guess I'll have to catch it next year on DVD.

Oh my goodness, I LOVED Matchstick Men. The story was great, and it was a movie that Nicolas Cage was actually good at.

There are a couple of movies that he's really good in. Lord of War, Windtalkers, Matchstick Men... I can't really think of any others.

The Wicker Man was horrible, but rest assured, it made for one hell of a funny YouTube video. Laughing at that kind of thing can be very fun.
