Continuing our Unreal week on GOG.com, we're bringing up some interesting mods into the spotlight.
[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/unreal_tournament_2004_ece]Unreal Tournament 2004 is one of those games where developers gave access to a flexible modification system which allowed users to easily create maps, models and even game modes. The creative community of Unreal players took advantage of this opportunity and created hundreds of different mods - some of them added new maps or weapons and some of them created totally new games. In this mod spotlight we'd like to present you just an example what can be done with this great game.
There is little error in topic title :]
A SOPTLIGHT IS NOT FOOD
There really are some truly great mods out there for UT2004. Troopers is great. That's the only one of those mentioned there that I've played.
One problem that mods tend to have is that they are usually multiplayer only, and there are no servers running them.

I don't know what you mean, soptlight is my favorite desert! Taste it if you haven't tried it yet :)
GOG: the Alien Swarm title/link is incorrect.
"Alien Swarm: Infested" is the Source engine follow-up (which is still in development).
The original UT2004 mod is simply "Alien Swarm", and its URLs are:
http://www.blackcatgames.com/alienswarm.html
http://www.blackcatgames.com/asv1/
You need to fix that, because it's not at all obvious how to download the UT2004 mod from the link you've provided!
Alien Swarm is awesome :)

What about the UTXMP mod? All the goodness of the original XMP for Unreal 2 on an updated engine, and for free. On the downside, I don't think it has been updated lately but it worked fine the last time I tried it, a few years ago.

Alien Swarm was the only large UT2K4 mod I ever played.
When I first had the game, I was on dial-up and a very low capped broadband account, so I missed just about everything that was out there.
Now I'm just on a low (not very) capped broadband account, so I should check these out.
And for MOAR mods, there's a topic on the Unreal sub-forum here! :)
Awesome! I didn't know about any of these either.
Are those MP mods playable with bots?

Yes they are, in addition the Ashura Dark Reign and Hollow Moon are single player only.
I highly recommend them all.

Great! Thanks for the reply.
Star Wars, here I come! :D
Alien Swarm mod is awesome for lan co-op.
All the screaming, shouting, frustration and hilarious stupidity of your buddies make it awesome. :p
I don't think the version of Troopers linked is the latest. The release notes indicate it's version 5.0
Version 6.0 here.
