Epic Games have decided to release a version of the Unreal Engine 3, free for non-commercial use. One of the many benefits is that modders don't have to rely on other people owning Unreal Tournament 3 to play their original mods. Prometheus and The Ball are some of the first mods to be switched over to the standalone UDK, with more on the way.
