I'm thinking of creating an unofficial GOG newsletter, possibly made every two weeks or so. Maybe put in the current game catalog count, some reviews, and a backpage filled with obscenities by Fungoo. I dunno, should I continue with this idea? Who wants to help?
Who would the target audience be? Since we're mostly all here regularly wouldn't it be a bit redundant?

I dunno, it wuold maybe have feature articles and stuff. I think that it would be aimed at the people who come to this forum, but don't come here frequently, so you or I wouldn't really be here for that, but there would also be community news and things like exclusive contests and things.
You might have better luck starting up a blog, focused on retro (or your choice of word) games. Post about GOG releases when they happen.
A lot of blogging style CMS allow multiple 'publishers/authors'. If you find people willing to create content, you can have different sections/views as your readers (and writers) grow.
Once you have a target captive audience (not already here), a newsletter would work well.

OK, I've decided to go the blog route. A magazine-themed blog would emulate a newsletter-style newsletter (redundant, yes). If you wanna be a contributor, post here and let me know.
Feel free to nick any of my game reviews or comically vitriolic forum posts

OK, be my contributor.

Ugog sounds like a daemon from the inner circles of hell. Good name.
All hail Ugog! Much blood must be spilled in his glorious and terrible name!

Thanks, that was totally the image I was going for.
I had similar thoughts on some hellish daemon. Or cavemen "Ug! Og!". Also, Gog and Magog and Ugog, a qwirky new sitcom series, about 3 giant daemons living in an apartment, and all the madcap adventures they get up to.

They should be raising a baby that someone left on their doorstep
Genius!
(*yes, I like that idea)

OK, now that a blog is up, I need to write stuff. Too bad I have writer's block now...
We have just had 2 released games here. Seven Kingdoms II and Rise of the Triad.
If you don't want to deal with them directly, how about their genre at the time of their release, what they were compared to, response to the game then vs. now (how well do they hold up). What they brought to gaming, and how they affected it.
Since it's early days with your blog, and it looks like you don't know exactly the direction to take it, try a few short-trial posts and ask us here what we think/suggest.
I would like to see more targeted reviews about these old games that are away from the bias that "they are old, so they must be good". Most(not all) of the reviews tend to move in this direction. It would be nice to see which games are really worth getting...
