Smash and grab raid fails as burglar hit by own rock
Page last updated at 02:00 GMT, Saturday, 12 June 2010 03:00 UK
He tried once, he tried again, he tried a third time - but each attempt to break the shop window rebounded on him.
The still unidentified burglar was throwing a rock at a shop in Wellington, New Zealand, which sells skateboards and streetwear.
But the rock just kept bouncing back and knocking him on the head until he, and a watching accomplice, gave up.
Police say they hope the experienced has knocked some sense into the burglar.
Detective Sergeant Mark Scott said the two offenders were caught on camera trying to smash a window of Empire Skate, in Herd Street, Chaffers Marina before dawn.
"We can see from the CCTV images, one of the offenders is seen throwing a rock at the window which then comes down and hits him on the head, at which point they flee the scene."
Police are now asking for witnesses to come forward as they continue to try to identify the failed burglars.
But the rock just kept bouncing back and knocking him on the head until he, and a watching accomplice, gave up.

pathetic...
Video of the incident (or at least, of someone just as stupid / unlucky ).
I wonder why they assumed that he was attempting theft? For all we know, it was attempted vandalism. Pretty funny though...:P
They must be weaker then a halfing if they can't break a window with a rock.
that gives me a idea firing halfings out of a catapult.

It's a skate store, so it's a pretty good guess they were after shoes, clothing and/or skateboards.
The company has put the footage on its website (maybe as a warning to other wimpy fools ?)

Yes, but it's still a guess. Yet I think you're correct.

Remember kids: if you want to make a proper smash and grab, bring appropriate tools! A cinderblock has a lot more mass than your average rock, and may be easier to throw. However, if you want the job done properly, a hammer is your friend, preferably one with a small head to maxmize the odds of shattering.

That's if fools like Spaghetti Arms in the video could carry something that heavy :)
Dumb criminal... how much lower can you get?

In one of my 4e groups last month, we had a Warforged make a successful Athletics check to shot-put an all-too-willing Eladrin. We were chasing some kind of mechanical snake who had a big start, the Warforged suggested it, and the Eladrin went along with it. The Eladrin landed near the snake, surprising it. He used his one action to stand up. They rolled Initiative, and the Eladrin won. He cast Thundercage (or something) & missed, the snake bit at him & missed, and the two took off running away from each other. They scared the crap out of each other, more than anything...and gave the rest of us a good laugh.

Zjeraar: Teenager?
Who over the age of 20 would take the effort to break into a skateboard/streetware store?
