HereForTheBeer: - how big of a pain it was to get it going in the first place. I'd rather keep it on there if reinstallation requires jumping through a lot of hoops a second time.
LOL Temple of Elemental Evil is one of the main barriers keeping me from doing a wipe and repartition of my computer right now, so I can relate. The worst part - I KNOW it didn't take that much extra to get up and running with Circle of 8, but I remember there was "some" sort of quirk. Didn't take too long to sort out, but the fact that I can't remember what it was or how I fixed it is making me nervous on doing a reinstall!
Generally I don't uninstall. Deleting saved games I sometimes do if I need to free up space, I try to keep some save games even then, like ones near the end of the game.
Usually i uninstall them except for some favourites that i revisit them from time to time:

* Anno 1404: I keep it always on the disk for when i want to sit back and enjoy some peaceful gaming moments. (moments? Hahaha!)

* Age of Empires II, Starcraft, Battle for Middle Earth II: I keep returning to them from time to time for a skirmish match... or two!

* Grand Prix Legends: My favourite racing sim. It is always installed w/ all the 450+ tracks.

* Power & Glory: My second favourite racing sim.

* Terraria: I don't think i'll ever uninstall it!

* Skyrim: It's a pain in the <beep> to install it from scratch with all these mods that i use so i leave it installed.
I'm in the "But I might want to play it later on and dont want to have to redownload/reinstall it" camp. I bought a hotswap rack for my pc just so that I could buy hard drives dedicated to only storing games, currently have 3x 1TB hard drives with only games installed on them with the goal of never having to uninstall a game ever again. Currently sitting on 2.5TB of installed games. I may or may not have a slight game hoarding problem :p
Depends on the game. In general I will uninstall it, because one completionist walkthrough is good enough for me most of the time and when I've played through a game, I'm done with it, especially point and click adventures, linear shooters, platformers and most RPGs. I even delete the savegames in most cases. That being said, I didn't uninstall the Saints Row games and Far Cry 3, because even though I played through their stories and almost all of the side quests, I didn't complete them to 100%, and there's a chance I might want to get back to them just for some sandbox fun, if I'm in the mood. So far I didn't actually get back to them, but you never know. Also, in the case of SR I'm unsure what will happen to my characters when I uninstall the games, as I didn't upload them and don't intend to do it either.

As for Steam games I already downloaded and might want to play (again) somewhen in the future but not now, I sometimes copy their folders to an external harddrive and then uninstall them. That way they don't take up space on my regular harddisk, but I won't need to re-download them either.

I just have a separate hard drive for games, so no uninstalls at all.

Even then I like to go back and play a good level. Or, as in the case of FlatOut 2, every so often I like to reconfirm it's as crap as I remember (and yes, each time I'm shocked and disappointed).

If you like a game enough you'll remember it and re-install it. If not, move on and chip away at the ol' backlog.

If I were juggling hd space I think I'd try to keep the open world driving games because I know I can always return to them even just for a few minutes of driving.

good luck deciding
I delete most of the games, once finished. Mainly because of the space issue. I leave some of those that I can and do play again and again, at least a little, like RAGE, Flat Out. I could've left The Witcher installed. But it makes more sense to download it again, since I replay The Witcher once in half a year.
If its over 1GB in size I'll usually uninstall - with the exceptions of a few that i regularly visit.

However, having just gotten a 3TB external drive, I'm starting to install anyything over 1GB on it and just leave it installed.

I've also started installling older (smaller) dosbox games from GOG onto a USB stick.

Typically I keep everything installed (which is probably why I am finding my 3TB hard drive too small), but if there is no likelihood of replaying it and it is taking up a large amount of space I will uninstall. I rage-quit-and-uninstalled Depth Hunter because that game was so fustrating I never wanted to have anything to do with it again, but typically I just leave games on the disk.

snowkatt: when you finish a game on the pc that is
do you uninstall it to denote that you are done with it ( finished over ! )
or do you keep it around just in case you want to mess around with it a bit more ?

currently im debating keeping sleeping dogs saints row 3 and ghiostbusters around even though i havent touched them any more since i finished them and they are only eating hd space

but i MIGHT want to play them again "soon" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeZ9HhHU86o
I uninstall the game because nowadays a lot of games take up a lot of space and my hard drive is not that big. I also can't afford more space.

yeah with around 8 tb im not exactly lacking in space

on the other hand i have so many games installed it becomes a bit overwhelming
who do i choose to play now ? *closes eyes and picks a icon at random * you !

which usually leads to something like : oh fuck i hate you why havent i uninstalled you ?!
or i never even played you !
or ...when the hell did i install you ...or buy you anyway ?

sooner or later i do plan to tackle the batman games in order
Multiplayer games I keep if I'm on every now and again. Everything else, once I'm done, I'm done: "Wipe them out. All of them."

Although, I agree with amund. If there's a lot of modding or tweaking, I may keep it going only if I intend to revisit the game.

oblivion is a permanent fixture on my hd especially because getting a fully modded build is a bugger to achieve
you have to install universal skeleton elys silent voice obmm obse alternative start
and those are just the basics have fun trying to sort out who clases with who and in what order you want everything to load so oblivion doesnt crash on boot

just installing all my fucking mods takes me a day

So then you're stuck with how much HD space devoted to it?
