Hello,

I emailed gog.com about this however received no answer , maybe I can get some help here. any help would be appreciated. If I buy the witcher 2 from this website can I install it on 2 different computers? Literally bringing my save file from one computer to the other computer back and forth to continue the same game on 2 different computers? I hope that made sense. Any response would be appreciated and if this is true I will buy every big title game this website sells from now on!!
Of course.

DRM free means you can download it as many times as you like while GOG exists, but more importantly it also means you can back it up and install it as many times as you want FOREVER, and without internet.
While Mr Velvet explained the DRM. I'm not sure about the transferability of save files. Not because they are DRM'd, just because it tends to be a bit trickier to move them (sometimes there are other index files etc,). I know nothing particular of the Witcher 2.

But you could take the whole game, and just copy it over the top, then it would work. And you're free to do so. Also, there will be a way, and you would be free to do that too.
I doubt TW2's save files will be tricky like that. Other than Games for Windows Live games I don't know many PC games that do that type of thing.

That's due to DRM too. So either the game will be free of that or it's not DRM-free.

I was referring to the complexity of transferring the files, not that there would be a defense against it. But as StingingVelvet says, it's likely to be simple.

I can't say I've ever played a game that had complicated saves that wasn't due to DRM, but I'll take your word for it.
i am aware that this might not be the correct place to ask this however, if i purchased a retail copy (box) of the witcher 2 can i legally install it on two pcs and swap save files back and forth? or is gog.com theonly place that lets you do what i plan on doing? also are the preorder wallpapers awesome?

Depends on the DRM. But Mr. Gog is the sole source of DRM free copies that haven't been cracked by pirates.

I'm pretty sure they stated that they carry the only DRM-free download version, not mentioning boxed copies at all. I might have missed something though. Not that I believe non-Polish boxes will be completely DRM free until such a patch is released.

Actually some of Mr GOG's releases were made DRM-free by utilising cracks that were originally created by illegally for use in pirated copies.

Disregarding the fact that we're talking about The Witcher 2, which will be DRM free from the get-go on GOG rather than having it patched out afterwards. Indeed, you're right.

The posts I read suggested that the box copies would be DRM encumbered. Of course the posts may have been wrong as I don't recall any of them coming from official sources.

EDIT: Also there was the announcement here just before I signed up for the preorder saying that Mr. Gog was the only place that would be carrying the game DRM free.

from reading through the replies it seems the general answer to my original question is, yes. thanks for all your help, i just pre-ordered the witcher 2. now back to playing the witcher enhanced edition. i am only on chapter 2, i hope i can beat it before the witcher 2! this might mean 300 plus hours of witchering! in the next 2-3 months
