Sogi-Ya: games that everyone has already pirated years ago
Please, at least be kind enough to consider that others might not be as lax with legal issues as you are, if you have to (avoids the word steal in order to prevent the inevitable discussion on piracy) obtain software without paying. Thank you in advance.

(I bought Ultima VII and got Ultima IV through the legal download link, but I'd love to try Ultima VI)

Then again, I'd be willing to bet that at least *some* people know that secret ;)

stating a fact that a long time ago -most- people simply gave up on waiting for EA to pop it's head out of it's ass and re-release Origin's games.

well, people who don't have their original installation disks, I personally DO have most of mine and the few that I don't are titles that I haven't felt the need to re-play.

so next time, simply ASK if I myself have pirated something before you accuse me of it.

Sogi-Ya: there were a few explicit places that had limited rights to distribute the game for free, but that was only for promotional purposes and it was never fully set to "freeware" mode as people could download it for free but not redistribute it.
The criteria for freeware classification is not as rigid as you seem to think. Not all freeware is redistributable. In fact, the EULA at ultimaforever.com says;
You are expressly prohibited from sub-licensing, renting, leasing or otherwise distributing the Software or rights to use the Software.
Well hopefully we will get something similar to the might and magic set 1-6 for ultima i would nto mind paying for that even if number 4 is free.

Sogi-Ya: -most-
I don't know the figures, so I can not comment on 'most', but I can assure you that it hasn't been everyone, since that would include me and I know what I did (or didn't ;)). Which is what I wanted to point out (nothing more, nothing less).

Actually, you claimed you did.
If everyone did it, that certainly includes you, since everyone is, well, every single person.

On that note, I'll leave it there and just enjoy EA coming to GoG.

Ultima IV was way before my time... not sure I could play it. Pretty sure I couldn't, really.

Let me know when GOG release Ultima VII.
I heard that Richard Garriot says it's one of his favourite of the Ultima games he's made, and I think Todd Howard of Bethesda says it's one of his two favourite RPG's ever. I remember him saying he couldn't choose between it and another Ultima, on some days he liked this one best, on some days he liked a different one.

Sogi-Ya: ...it seems like EA and bioware are trying to white wash Origin out of the picture.
Of course they are, have you seen what they're doing with the Origin trademark now?
yeah, part of me wants to not buy any of these EA games on here simply because I don't like giving money to those bastards ... but there are Origin / Westwood titles that I really, really, really want to play but don't want to deal with setting up dos box on my own.

The most disgusting thing about this is how Bioware is playing along, I highly doubt they would feel all that great if Atari suddenly stopped crediting them when talking about Baulders Gate and NWN.

I've seen that a couple of times now. Both people saying that they do not want to support EA or that they do not want to support the EULA policy of EA here on GoG.
But doesn't that set the wrong signal?
Shouldn't we encourage EA through sales here on GoG instead and thus grant our beloved GoG team (and their DRM free ideology) a better position on negotiations?
It's kind of the same with training an animal (no offence intended towards EA, all humans are but animals!), where you provide a treat even at partial success to indicate positive results when taking the way you want.
