People are actually giving this asshole money? Apparently he has enough to cover his legal fees now. Let me make one thing clear; whether his hacking of the PS3 is ethical or not is none of my concern in this particular case. What I am concerned about is how willing people are to support this moron when he continues to self-incriminate himself on the Internet. He is literally throwing every cent donated down the toilet. The mere concept that people would be so willing to fund a time bomb makes me question just how much faith I have left in today's society.
He may be an arse and giving him money is stupid, but I don't want Sony to win this case. It'll set a very ugly precedent.

It will also set a very ugly precedent if a man who doesn't know how to shut the fuck up when it comes to his case ends up winning. I hate people who gloat before they've even won.
I think the positive legal aspect of him winning would outweigh the negative social aspect. Basically, just because he's a dick, it doesn't mean that he's not right.
Apparently, in the U.S., if you're acquitted in a murder trial, you can then go on to brag about how you did it since you can never be re-tried. And I just realized this contributes nothing to this discussion, but it reminded me of this.

Does this mean that you could then write and publish a book called "How I Killed Bob" with an indepth look at how you performed the deed, the whys, and pleasure you took from it and make a fortune off the royalties?
Maybe they feel sorry for him?

+1,000

If you buy hardware it should be yours to mess with as much as you want. If a company tries to remove advertised features via firmware then it is a good thing for customers to bring it back themselves.

He might be an ass but he is on the side of righteousness in this case.

Like if the guy from the dog whisperer was a super hero!
Sony is far shitier with their borked up consoles that lose features over time. I'd be glad if GeoHot wins.

No, you call it, "If I Did It."

Staying off topic - is it not the same in UK? I seem to remember one of Agatha Christies plot, was just about this: there where two people working together, one of them (who where the murder) planted real and fake evidence against himself. The other where going to give a bulletproof alibi in the court so the first one would be set free, and therefore could not be arrested for the same crime again.. something like this...

Thank you so so much for all of your help, things are looking up money wise. Expect to see a few more lawyers on my responses!
I have enough to cover my legal fees for the time being.
And in the absolute worst case scenario, we don’t want Sony getting it :-P"

Good job, you tools. Don't pay the people who make consoles and games... pay the people who cause them damage.
