I hope this isn't foreshadowing.

Foreshadowing of what?
Looks like PSN, Live, WoW, etc prepaid cards.
Steam Wallet Codes look and act just like game keys except they put money directly into your wallet.
Wow! How does that even work? I'd love to have such a key, my wallet feels so empty right now. ;)

They've been sold for the last month btw so your a little behind :P Target and gamestop carry them in the US I believe
I am sort of glad it happened I don't like using credit card that much I prefer going to a store and get a voucher in a sense it's like going to a store and buying the game itself to me

Yah, saw stories on this last week. It makes sense, not sure why it's a negative.
Old news ... and I dont see anything sinister about it as you OP implies ?

Mephe: Foreshadowing of what?
Steam adding useful features, I guess.

Because it involves Steam? I have come to the understanding that anything involving steam is negative by default. Basterd, they are making it even easier buying games now, how dare they...
I was a bit worried that it might be GS's first advancement towards buying out Steam and then ruling the interwebs with overpriced and region locked software.

I think the opposite would be more likely.

Valve seems to be in good shape and GS already has Impulse so they don't really need steam, just need to make Impulse suck less but that's not likely in the cards.

Umm,how did you come to that conclusion given that Gamestop is losing money and is predicted to go out the same way of Game in the UK did in a few years, while Valve are seemingly swimming in it Scrooge Mcduck style(kinda like this: http://torwars.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Scrooge-McDuck.jpg) and since normally the company that is losing money get's eaten up/taken over by the larger more well off company, I don't get how GS would be able to buy Valve/Steam.

GS has a really strong backing from their retail outlets after purchasing Electronic Boutique.

Remember that old Scottish comedian who claimed that there's probably a McD's on the Moon? We've even got a few EB Games/Gamestops here in New Zealand.
