Gundato: It is more polite to say "xcom fans" :p

ceemdee: Not to the people who get grouped in with them when you use such a general description (which was the point Andy_Panthro was making). Plus your "politeness" is about as transparent as a window. :p

tee hee :p
I am actually a pretty big fan too, so that is why I don't mind so much lumping myself in. Plus, people tend to tune you out when you openly call them whiners :p
But same thing goes for pretty much everything I say: If you don't think it applies to you, it doesn't. Although, you might want to make sure you know why you think it does apply to you :p

Wow, you really just can't help yourself can you.

Gundato: Plus, you'll understand if I am incredibly skeptical of any of the freeware endeavors. :p

UFO: The Two Sides works very well.
It's basically just the same as vanilla UFO though, with a few modifications. More changes will be present when they finally finish it though, but at the moment it's mainly cosmetic (higher resolution).
There should probably be a thread for such things, I've got various bookmarks for remakes/major overhauls etc.. There's a couple of particular interest for Daggerfall and Mordor but both are quite far off being complete.

Andy_Panthro: UFO: Cydonia's Fall[/url] (also possibly dead).

Shame about that one as that really was a modern day remake. The original game built from the ground up with a new engine. Even the teaser music was the original remixed.

I'll give that one a look-see, but most of the freeware/open-source attempts at just about anything tend to be worth their price, if you catch my drift.

Delixe: Aren't you the same person who was giving us all a hard time about complaining about the new XCOM?

That was some other guy called Shure I think.
