So, three game-based movies were announced, all three based on Ubisoft games. AC, SC, GR. And also a TV series based on Raving Rabbids. What, and no Rainbow Six? =p

I'm a bit sceptical on this. Here comes even more milking, both in game and movie versions... The first Ubi game-based movie was Prince of Persia, but that was by the giant Walt Disney, not by Ubi itself.

Are Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell still going to hold the Tom Clancy label? Because that's always hilarious.

Good point. They hold the name since the first games by Red Storm, even if the man is not involved.

But with Hollywood movie copyrights, it's a tad different I guess. After all, we didn't watched a "Jordan Mechner's Prince of Persia" movie. :)

Nope, didn't forgot.

That's coming futurely, released simultaneously with Far Cry 3, set in Antarctica.

Well, the Tom Clancy game franchises end up holding the Tom Clancy name even when they get novels. Like you'll find

TOM CLANCY'S
Ghost Recon
pitiful actual author's name in tiny letters

They are shamelessly abusing that name to sucker people.

Coming to a bargain bin near you
I am sure these will be high quality films for the whole family.

...

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I know it's fun to take potshots at this but can it be any worse than most of Uwe Boll's tripe? I mean I think I even liked one of his movies once, but they are almost all universally bad, even the single likable one (and apparently forgettable one, since I can't recall which it was).
I think they could be good. Prince of Persia was good. The problem is, as a fledgling studio, what resources do they have?
Many movies are "started" without ever seeing the light of day. Any project that is still working on a script is not something you should have any expectations for.

Now, one day if the scripts are written and actors cast (voice/real/whatever), and directors/producers/etc all lined up, and work actually started on "filming", then that's another matter.

As it is, nothing in that article means you'll actually be watching an Ubisoft movie in your lifetime. :p

Argh I've watched the Far Cry movie but not any of his others. I may rent Postal just by curiosity.

There's isn't any logic to that movie, just one or two good/average actors that save it, but they can't do miracles if the script and director are shallow.

Why they don't adapt BG&E to the cinema instead? Prince of Persia indeed had a good story to adapt from.

They have potential, yes. It's just that I am sceptical about game adaptations... because you feel attached to a game/franchise also because of its gameplay/mechanics/whatever, while in the movie you just sit there watching what normally is the weakest part of today's games: the story.

Still Ubisoft has potential, they've made a few CG/live-action short films before, I recall these two:

Totally agreed.

Though, Ubi has a high possibility of releasing them. They have good connections back in France and already had success with the PoP movie with Disney, so... it takes just another step for them.

Have you saw Assassin's Creed Lineage? That's a live-action prequel for Assassin's Creed 2 totally produced in house by Ubisoft. I'd say that there's DEFINITELY potential. They even got the actors from the game (mostly).
They manage to not screw up assassins creed lineage, I'm willing to give them a chance but they'd have to do something pretty impressive to break the "game movie = bag full of horsecrap" tradition
