kalirion: Already own Sands of Time and Far Cry on disk, not interested in the rest.

But if anyone still hasn't played the masterpiece that is PoP: SoT, now is the time!
avatar
Leroux: I'm quite interested in PoP:SoT but I read the controls of the PC conversion were awful and I don't intend to buy a controler for the PC, so I'm hesitant whether to buy it here or get a used copy for the PS2. Does the PC version work well with mouse and keyboard?

I'm also a bit afraid that it might turn out a frustrating experience because I often suck at arcade game - easier games like Psychonauts and Tomb Raider are just challenging enough for me but if PoP is about lots of difficult jumps, maybe with critical camera angles, I see myself failing miserably ... ;)

Btw, can you save all the time or only at save points and in the latter case how far are they apart?
I played with the Xbox 360 controller myself. Honestly, I believe every PC gamer who has any interest in platforming or shmup games whatsoever should have a gamepad of some kind. I've been using them ever sine that first 4 button Gravis :).

I actually found Tomb Raider Anniversary (with 360 controller) more difficult than SoT. Sands of Time does use checkpoints, but they're not too far apart. And the most important thing is that after the introductory level you get the Dagger of Time, which allows you to undo any mistimed jumps as long as the dagger has sand in it. You recharge it at special paces and by killing enemies. That makes the game far less frustrating.

And nothing in Sands of Time comes close to the frustration of the jumps in the latter part of Psychonats' Meat Circus....

The only bad thing about SoT is that the combat isn't all that. They fixed the combat in the sequel, but broke everything else :(.

Ooohh. Sands of Time...

I may buy that.
This sale raises a question for me. My email blast says the games are "from 4.99" And when I go to the Far Cry page it says it is $6.99. Since I'm state side and the game is a rather large download is the extra 2 bucks some sort of surcharge? $6.99 for such a highly acclaimed game is still quite reasonable but its also not $4.99 (nor 50% off). Just curious about it. All the games looked that way.

There's no surcharge involved. Far Cry isn't on sale this weekend. The promo page covers all the games that are on sale.

EDIT: Go through the promo page, I missed it on account of it being already bought.

They're five bucks each if you buy all of them, seven bucks each if you only buy some.

rjspring: Not real exciting this week, only picked up Far Cry
avatar
Gammix: That should be exciting enough. I can't speak for any of the other games, but Far Cry for $7 should prove to be the best purchase of your life. It's one of my favorite games of all time, and definitely my favorite shooter. =)
I remember when it came out, my PC didn't have enough 'umph' to play it... now I have the sequel on PS3 and would like to check out the original...

SLP2000: The pack is pretty nice, and 50% is not a big problem when it's only 6 games. It was mich harder to get when it was complete Ubi catalogue 50% off.

So, if it was just normal weekend deal, I'd say it's neat, but as a Easter holdiay promo it is not so well. Especially that people should have one or two free days more, so they could spend some more cash and play some GOGs.
GOG has suprised us before. They still have a day or so to put out a sale Easter related on top of this one.

My last computer (which was pretty crummy by modern standards) was able to run it fine with the graphics settings turned down just a bit; you should be okay. Hope you enjoy it!

I see.
Nice promo, I have all the games but nice anyway.

A lot of people feel the same way. Personally I love Warrior Within but I know I'm in the minority there :)

Anyone who hasn't played SoT really should give it a go, gameplay is solid and engaging and the storyline is pretty damn good for a platformer :)
I would pick up IL-2 Sturmovik at 50% off but just don't have enough interest at 30% off to buy it. . . =)
Well while I have the orig cd. Nothing wrong with having a digital version of Settlers 2. Bought it. Heh.

I miss Serf City tho.. Settlers 3 is what I really want on GoG.. Had better military handling.
I bought Settlers two days ago... just my luck!

Game + 4 add-ons + 40 pages manual + 450 pages aircraft guide... Difference between 50% and 30% discount is just 2 bucks.. c'mon man :-)
BTW I wouldn't count on higher discounts/lowering price from Ubisoft catalog...That's why I'm pleased that Ubisoft's games appear on promo quite seldom allowing me to pick all I want at slow rate - one by one.
