For the better.
I would hate to see this series tainted by that wrecked piece of shit like my beautiful Prince of Persia 8(
Oh come on Ubisoft. REALLY.
Sadly I have to agree with Tantrix, they butchered PoP when the creator wasn't looking, and they'll butcher BGE now that Ancel is gone. Considering that Ancel was really pushing for BGE2 from what I understand of what I had heard, him leaving like this is not a good sign, guess he realised he would never get his ideas realised the way he wanted with Ubi.
Complete conjecture on my part I know, I just love seeing scandals in things! >:)
One could hope that Ubi decides the series isn't profitable enough any more and then sell the rights back to Ancel so he can continue doing with it what he wants.
Aw man, this is one of my most anticipated games. Oh well, it's best they aren't carrying it on. It'd be like making Grim Fandango 2 without Tim Schafer.
The interesting/important bit is that Ancel is apparently going independent. BG&E is just a setting. The chance of seeing more games with the same philosophy, even if not a continuation, is much bigger that way.

Even more Indie games?
Man, this is a good day today. Heck, I could even work with them 8)
Probably for the better, after all, it would have been infested with that UPlay crap of theirs.
I guess Ubisoft's view on this was like: "Why focus on making only 1 great game, only 1 worthy successor of the first game's name, when you can milk it in 3 or even 4 games for us with the same amount of money?"...
And of course, all 3 or 4 filled with DLCs and all that online DRM crap.
Well, good luck to him... If he will found another studio just like Tim Schafer did, and delivered us Psychonauts.
Good. The last thing I'd want right now is for Ubisoft to produce something good.
Ubisoft used to be my favourite company. Whatever happened to them? They just keep disappointing me with everything they do now.

Phosphenes: Ubisoft used to be my favourite company. Whatever happened to them? They just keep disappointing me with everything they do now.

More shareholders who gots the thumb over Ubisoft, newer unexperienced developers and producers and bad experiences they don't learn from as far as I could conclude, probably even some biased CEOs and really really bad inner organization.
Prince of Persia took it probably at the worst since Two Thrones(Star force, Censorship, Redesign to make it SoT-Friendly), and people wonder why it never reached Platinum unlike SoT and WW.

According to information of the site montpelliérain WootGaming, Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman and Beyond Good & Evil emblematic figure at Ubisoft, would be about to leave the studio of Montpellier, and would give up BGE2 project. If we speak to you about this rumour, is because this information is spread with speed of light on the Net and that blow many players in panic. We invited Ubisoft France and telephone call members of the TEAM of Ubi Montpellier… They say: this information completely false, is contradicted at the same time by Ubi and our sources within the studio… and the project Beyond Good & Evil 2 more than ever on the rails. L' E3 could be well there to prove it…
