Thoughts?
I'm not surprised at them doing this. Big publishers have been wanting to head to always online for a while now.

While I do play a few MP games, when it gets to the point where hardly no new games work without online I'll gladly check myself out of modern gaming.
I honestly don't care anymore...

I've pretty much lost interest in any "new" games. With DRM, consolization, quarter-billion dollar games, publishers that don't care about customers, the same games being made over and over again... It's hard to care about any of it.

I know I sound like an elitist cynical snob... But I really feel like I will only buy new games if they are made by CD Projekt or indie devs from now on.

This news is rather... disappointing.
I hope this doesn't turn M&M X Legacy into an always online game...

I agree it gets tiring when its forced and claimed to be a feature and beneficial to the consumer
Why dont they just start labelling their games as MMO's or MMORPGS just multiplayer only?. sigh
I kind of feel like AdamR. Seriously, if Microsoft was forced to back down on the always-online, what makes Ubi think gamers want this? These guys have flip-flopped so many times on DRM that I need a bloody compass and a road map just to keep track of it. I'll just take the easy route and avoid any of their games altogether. So yeah, go ahead with that always-online DRM, Ubisoft. Won't affect me any if I'm not playing your games.
I'll go always online if Ubisoft will hire some Canadian hooker to always suck my balls. Fair trade.

My thougihts exactly. And it's not elitist at all. It doesn't surprise me more and more people are tired of that crap.

I stick with oldies and with few exceptions (like Daedalic adventures and indies), I don't even need new games to enjoy.

I hate when having your own opinion is seen as a elitism on this forum.

Can't say I'm shocked at all. Just because Microsoft couldn't pull it off yet because of bad advertising and their main competitor blocking their way (even though apparently they had some sort of plans as well initially), it's still the direction gaming is going in. If not from the consoles themselves, then from the Developer/Publishers end of it.
It's been a while since I cared about anything Ubisoft has done. With this I still don't care.
didnt ubisoft recently announced they are only interested in making franchise, like assassin creed, which comes out every bloody year, i am done with games that are pretty much the same and never ends
If when faced with strong oposition to always online or heavy DRM what they learn is they need to come up with a better scheme to make ppl accept it, instead of not making it a mandatory feature, good luck for them, ill just go another way.
Another dickish move by Ubi, wow, I am truly shocked ;)
I'm really sad Ubisoft owns the Might and Magic IP. Especially now that MM X is coming. I still play the old MM games from 20 years ago, I want to be sure I can play the new MM and HoMM games 20 years from now.
