Since GOG reminded me of TH I've been craving for nice tycoons. I know that there were many, oh SO MANY of them, especially a few years ago. And I know that most of them sucked :P
Today this genre seems to have died...

Can you remember any good tycoons from the past or recent?

Also, not to state the obvious ones:
Theme Hospital (duh)
Theme Park (and World)
Rollercoaster Tycoon (series)
Open TTD
Railrad Tycoon

Airline Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon are good as well.

2nd one is here, too ;)
The Movies
School Tycoon
Transport tycoon Deluxe still probably stands as one of the absolutely best games of its genre to date.
Capitalism
Gazillionaire
MadTV
Nothing new to add, but I'll second The Movies as both excellent and criminally underrated. Spent a ton of time on that back when it came out.

Also Mad TV is a great recommendation, and there's a free browser version of it. It's similar but different; much faster paced and easier to navigate, but you have to register a free account to save.
Prison Tycoon... J/K

Seems like the biggest ones have been already mentioned. It's strange that the newest one I've really enjoyed was Railroad Tycoon 3, and that is already some nine years old. Hm.

Speaking of Transport Tycoon I really do hope that GOG will eventually add it to its list. I mean we've got all of Chris Sawyers's other games thus far. I wonder if some odd legal hurdle might hinder GOG there.
Startopia!

Eidos is selling it through their store. I expect it to be here any, uhm, month now....
I used to play Zoo Tycoon like crazy. That fucking theme... I sometimes catch myself humming it.
Airline tycoon!
Wasn't there a Pizza Tycoon?

Pizza Syndicate, or Pizza Connection 2!

I'll bet it's because neither GOG nor the relevant publisher think it'll be worth their while due to the fact that OpenTTD is both free and vastly superior.

The problem with the movies is that the unofficial "more applicants" patch is needed for it to actually be finishable or you run out of people in about 1950 as nobody applies -.-
