I got an account, and started browsing the games, only this morning. I found games that I haven't seen in a long time. Age of Wonders being one of them. So, I purchased the trilogy. Now, I have tried installing the downloader app. I get it downloaded, and installed, but it won't connect, at all. It won't do anything at all. I see in other people's posts that there's supposed to be a login, and I don't even have anything like that.

Next, I decided to just give up on the downloader, and try downloading it straight from the site. The site lets me download around 24 mb of the first game, which is 162 mb, and then it stops, and says it's done. When I try to open the setup installer, it says the files are corrupt.

I am in quite a bind here, as I spent $20 on this trilogy, and it really is feeling like I wasted my money, because I can't get my product due to very faulty downloading problems!

Speqtre: snip
Best thing to do is trying to contact support. They're very good at solving these things. I guess it doesn't hurt that it's their job, too. ;) That said, from where are you accessing the net? Have you tried downloading from a different access point like a school, library, net cafe?

Seriously though, venting about this on the forum typically won't achieve much of anything, although you're not the first and probably won't be the last to do so. Anyway, getting into a direct conversation with GOG will always be your best bet.

Speqtre: ...
The GOG staff will get this sorted out soon I can assure you. Make sure you send Support a message.

It is 4 or 5 am in Poland, so it may take a little while for them to get back with you, but again, this will get sorted out soon.
I did send support a message. I was hoping someone on the forums might be able to tell me a good way to fix my problem, as the FAQs related to my problem aren't providing me with a viable solution.
Never mind. Was rushed and only read the first half of the OP.

I don't know how you'd go about it (considering internet provider and whatever setup you may have for internet in terms of wifi etc) but I presume you've tried resetting your connection as best you can? If so then I have two tips for low bandwidth type situations - one, try downthemall add on for firefox (can help a lot) and two, maybe download overnight in case your net service is straining / throttling during the day.
Hope thats of use and I hope you get your downloading sorted! :)

adambiser: You can download without the downloader app, too.
He did.
Well, have you?

Several times, actually.
funny thing is when i downloaded the witcher with the downloader i didnt even need to log in, i just went to the games page, turned the downloader support on and clicked the link for the download. Then the doanloader itself opened up logged in and started downloading.

I'll send a message to one of the staff with this thread in the link. (They may have missed it.)
You tried restarting your computer, and then giving the downloader another go ?

I had the same problem before when I bought my first game, XIII. Some of my friends had the same problem as well. What fixed it for us was re-installing the GOG downloader and going for DDL. Direct downloading, for me, is best with the Opera browser, as (I've been told) it's one of the fastest and most reliable internet browsers out there.

Hehe, I knew what that was going to be before I clicked the link.

Speqtre, your money is definitely not wasted. Don't worry, this will be fixed. It's always unfortunate when someone's first experience with GOG is problematic, but it really is the exception rather than the rule around here. Most people have no problems, and those who do usually get them fixed quite quickly.
