tritone: Although a little vague, your first game sounds like Legend Entertainment's "Mission Critical" to me. It starts on board a space ship/station, and immediately there's a critical problem. As I recall, a hole in the side of the ship is venting oxygen outside and if you don't fix it you'll die. Legend games were kind of a hybrid between the old Infocom text adventures and more modern point-and-click games, with an interface that contains large lists of possible noun/verbs to pick from. Anyway, just a shot in the dark!
