I wonder if anyone knows of a turn-based type RPG that has the kind of battle system that I like. That is, you can manually fight if you like, but it will also run on auto during the battle scenes if you want that option. I have a few of those type games on my Android tablet but I'm not sure if GOG has any. Thanks for any replies!

Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures has an auto battle function, and therefor I assume some or all of the old Goldbox series games by SSI (like Pool of Radiance etc.) might have it, too. But sadly those games aren't available on GOG. :(

Hmm, the freeware game The Spirit Engine 2 has an auto-battle system from what I remember. You change the instructions issued to the characters and then just let the battle run.

I can't think of any games which actually make the decisions for you if that's what you're after.
Wasteland lets you set macros, so you can make your own auto-battle system if you want. Not on GOG though.
Can't think of any that fit the bill exactly. I can certainly think of games where you can automate a lot of stuff, and games with god-mode that allows you to essentially sit back and do nothing if you so desire, but not all-out "play the combat sequences in their entirety for you" sort of way.
Expeditions: Conquistador ?
Kings Bounty games(4) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Oc0ozbBWow ?
Fallen Enchantress and Fallen Enchantress Legendary Heroes ( TB Strategy game with strong rpg elements) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBtDQdhWjL4

Good rpg with TB battles are on psx, ps2 (and other consoles): Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, Fire Emblem (you can play on PC with Dolphin or other emulators >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pOI-ws_WVA
Wizardry 8 has auto battle option which you can toggle on/off at any moment.
In Heroes of might and magic 3 (dunno about the others in the series) you can let the system calculate the battle, so it takes a few seconds and then you see the battle screen with the result. Also this game is very good so you should definitely try it
Persona 4 is probably your best bet. The AI is relatively competent, provided that you gave the characters the right behavior setting to suit them. Unfortunately, Persona 4 is only for the PS2 and PSP Vita. (The latter is expanded)

Doesn't really work that way, there's still some management you have to do manually.
If you consider Master of Magic an RPG, it has that option. In fact, since strategic (automatic) combat uses a different algorithm to calculate results, sometimes battles which are unwinnable if you do it yourself are a cakewalk if you let the AI run the numbers. (Or in fairness, vice versa.)

Arcanum has a battle system similar to this. I think it just applies to your henchmen and not you, however. If you switch to real-time from turn-based you still need to give your PC orders.

This.
I think the only RPG I played with a combat system with a true auto combat option was Challenge of the Five Realms. A great CRPG, btw.
Jagged Alliance 2 had an auto-resolve. Not very good from what I remember.
