Gonna throw my weight behind Arcanum, aka Fallout, Steampunk edition.

Oh, and checkers. And chess. And maybe even bridge. Not that anyone even plays bridge anymore these days...

Commandos is real-time!

Another turn based game :))

I have an updated version, not my cup of tea. Airports instead of railroads and a cell phone instead of a shoe.

Crewdroog: So, Humble posted Banner Saga for their bundle and it got me thinking. I really dislike turn based games. However, I am a huge fan of RPGs, so I feel like I should like it b/c, well, history.

Am I not understanding some element that makes it enjoyable? Is there some game that might change my mind?

If anything I guess list your favorite and I'll look it up and maybe try it.
Usually what turns me off is that they are not very strategic for a long while. They tend to take too long to get you into the flow of things.

On the opposite end of that spectrum is Temple of Elemental Evil. It's very tactical and you will die a lot learning how to play. But it's my favorite TB game.

Divinity: Original Sin is looking like it will be a great TB game, too.

All in all, if it's not your cup of tea, then it's not your cup of tea.
oh, just thought of 2 more.
Battle of Wesnoth and Elven Legacy

I've only play Fantasy Wars so far, but I must say, that is a great game, too.

I thought it was way too hard at first (which is usually a good sign of a good TB strategy game). But after I figured out how to use my units well, it really became an interesting game of quasi-chess.
The weekend promo offers Chaos Overlords for $1.8.

That game just look wierd!
So OP, do have an update for us?

Sorry, I have been engrossed with the sale.

I am a huge fan of the Fallout series, so I'm probably gonna start there. Plus, I heard that if you make your intelligence super low it's pretty funny.
And again I thank each of you for your suggestions, I will go through and see if there are any others I might pick up.

:)

Excellent choice!
I've never tried a low intelligence playthrough but if it were up to me I'd leave that for a 2nd playthrough to create a dumb melee powerhouse. Intelligence directly affects how any skill points you get at each level to distribute among skills such as speech, lockpicking, small guns, etc so it might be a bit of a hassle to play low intelligence for a first playthough. I'd also avoid a low agility character as then you'll have too few action points which severely restricts how much you can do in a turn.

However, play it whichever way you find is most fun!
BIASED TROLL POST WARNING!

Using an idiot to make the world a better place following a horrific catastrophe? Hmmmm, didn't we already try that with the Bush Administration?
What about Massive Assault and Domination? Has anyone tried them? Do they belong on GOG in your opinion?
