CDP Days 2011 Spring Conference has just finished and everything is clear now. If you haven't been able to tune in to watch the live stream, don't worry. We've prepared a quick summary of our presentation with a video recap for your convenience. So, let's not wait any longer.

At the very beginning we had to brag a bit about how awesome the service is doing, of course thanks to you - our great users. And then, suddenly, the lights went off, creepy moans started letting out from all over the place while The EnigmaticT tried to discern something in the dark with his flashlight.

Worry not, it was the announcement of Alone in the Dark, that comes with Alone in the Dark 2 and Alone in the Dark 3 as free bonus materials! This great series starts a new wave of Atari games that will be available in the coming weeks! And on 10th of May as the last game from Atari, we'll release The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut. What's even cooler we're going to have a special, time-limited offer that will give you a 50% discount, so the game will cost you only $4.99!

As we're on the subject of The Witcher, we had more cool stuff about its upcoming sequel on GOG.com. Starting on May 10, everyone who pre-order The Witcher 2 on GOG.com will be able to pre-purchase the game and download 90% of the build, so they can play the game on release day! So if you haven't pre-ordered the game yet, you'd better do that before May 16! More details on The Witcher deals can be found here.

Pre-downloading such huge game like The Witcher 2 is some serious business, and you'd need some serious downloader to do that. That's where the GOG.com Spring Site Update comes in! Late April we'll introduce a brand new, improved and slick GOG Downloader which will allow you to download all your GOG games fast and easy. What else? Personal messaging will be now possible for all our users!

But that's not all! At the very end, spotlight was on your favourite French Monk, who had some news regarding new publishers coming to the site. Microsoft, Electronic Arts, LucasArts, Take2 and SquareEnix - one of those publishers is already signed, while two more from the list are almost on board! Which and when is coming? Well, you'll have to wait a bit for that :)

You can watch the video recap of the presentation here. Enjoy!
With EA possible on board i hope on those good old Bullfrog games, especially Dungeon Keeper. I have the first Dungeon Keeper here on disc, but i miss the expansion The Deeper Dungeons and also haven't Dungeon Keeper 2. Would be great to see Dungeon Keeper and it's expansion and Dungeon Keeper 2 here on GoG.
Or what about Magic Carpet and Populous The Beginning.
SquareEnix is cool too. Final Fantasy VII, yes please.
Once had that game a short while, but the game didn't work, so i returned it and bought C&C red alert 2 instead.

HertogJan: Around the time it got released I only played the Desperado demo based upon reviews comparing it to Commandos. The demo didn't make me want to buy the game. The crew you ride with aren't really outlaws btw.

Desperados is a great game, albeit very hard, and one I'll get the second they put it up (and they will). As for being outlaws, they most definately are. At least in the sense that they are criminals who recieve no protection from the government. Cooper's a gunman, Mccoy has been sentenced to death several times (and subsequently escaped), O'hara is a cheat, Sam is an escaped slave, Sanchez is a mexican bandit...and so on. The only person who isn't really an outlaw is Mia. In fact, Desperado is a synonym of 'outlaw'.

If you mean that they have not been sentenced to outlawry by a medieval court, the fair enough, but I'd wager that the characters of 'driver' haven't either.
avatar
HertogJan: The ones in Desperados are low lifes, the ones in Driver are criminals.
It's probably Desperados.
I might give that a try.
I fail to see how they are not criminals, for the reasons outlined in my previous post, and I fail to understand fully the distinction you make between 'lowlife', 'criminal' and 'outlaw'.
There are a number of places I could choose to carry this argument, but there is little reason to, so I will let sleeping dogs lie and simply hope they put out some of these Atari games this week.

On a related note, I knew there was a sub-par, 3D sequel to Desperados, but I erroneously thought it had been canceled. I was very surprised to see that there actually IS a third game out too! Thanks for bringing this to my attention, though I suspect I would have been better off not knowing. *sigh* How I wish they'd bring back isometric games. They are beautiful.
So there's only 3 weeks until May 10th and there's 5 more games that need to pop out before then. That's like 2 a week. So let's bring it already. grrrrrrrrrr.
Given that Atari bought many companies in the past (e.g. Accolade, Infogrames, ERE), here is my guess:

What game made you dream of the stars? Shadow of the Comet or Captain Blood!
What game made you ride with the outlaws? Desperados or Test Drive!
What game made you fear your past? Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy
What game made you go to the underground? Prisoner of Ice
What game made you feel like a hero? Heart of Darkness
What game made monsters afraid of you? The Witcher
What game made you afraid of dark? Alone in the Dark

After playing AitD this weekend, I am really hoping that Shadow of the Comet is coming soon! Captain Blood would be so awesome too!
What game made you dream of the stars?
We already know that one now :D
What game made you ride with the outlaws?
Not sure, I'll say Desperados because someone else did :P
What game made you fear your past?
Indigo Prophecy?
What game made you go to the underground?
Dungeon Siege 1 & 2
What game made you feel like a hero?
Neverwinter Nights 2
What game made monsters afraid of you?
Chronicles of Riddick
What game made you afraid of dark?
Alone in the Dark
What game made you feel like a hero?

Maybe: Matrix - The Path of Neo? :D I know this game is a crap, but... maybe? :D

lackoo1111: If EA joins to GOG , i hope we will get The Sims Complete Collection for $9.99 and SimCity complete collection ( 1+2+3+4 deluxe ) for $5.99
$5.99 for SimCity 1+2+3+4??? No way, it would be $9.99 for sure.

If they did it for $5.99 I would gift it for you. That is how sure I am it would be higher if they did release the collection.

Well, here comes my guess:

What game made you ride with the outlaws? Outlaws (by Lucas Arts)
What game made you fear your past? The 7th Guest (by Trilobyte)
What game made you go to the underground? Ultima underworld (by Blue Sky productions)
What game made you feel like a hero? Quest for Glory (by Sierra)
What game made monsters afraid of you? It looks like it's The Witcher

I think SimCity 4 would be separated from 1+2+3

I read a review with short character description.
No where did it state they were criminals. For instance it stated the Mexican guy was put in jail but appeared to be innocent.

I'm not around the next couple of days, so I'll have to wait till Tuesday evening to see a possible Thursday release and the Tuesday release :(
Curious to see what will be released.

Edit: just saw on the main page we'll get the answer to the outlaws question tomorrow.

Glups! Massive failure then. Serves me right for not reading.
But I must say that aparently The 7th Guest has actually been published by Atari at some point. :-P

Sanchez is a bandit leader, you corner him because you believe him to be behind the train robberies that set off the storyline to begin with. Of this crime he is innocent, but like I said before, they are all criminals of varying degree. Murderer, Fraud/Conman , Escaped slave, Bandit and so on. Cooper is a bounty hunter, but he commits several federal crimes during the course of the game and, well. You'll have to play it to see. Mmm, I can't wait to play it again, it's been years and years!

Also, you could have said you had never played the game and we wouldn't have had to have this argument!

am i the only one that thinks that "What game made you fear your past?" could be referring to Flashback? After All they DO have its predecessor Out of this World Up there. Seems only logical they would add it as well
