CDP Days 2011 Spring Conference has just finished and everything is clear now. If you haven't been able to tune in to watch the live stream, don't worry. We've prepared a quick summary of our presentation with a video recap for your convenience. So, let's not wait any longer.

At the very beginning we had to brag a bit about how awesome the service is doing, of course thanks to you - our great users. And then, suddenly, the lights went off, creepy moans started letting out from all over the place while The EnigmaticT tried to discern something in the dark with his flashlight.

Worry not, it was the announcement of Alone in the Dark, that comes with Alone in the Dark 2 and Alone in the Dark 3 as free bonus materials! This great series starts a new wave of Atari games that will be available in the coming weeks! And on 10th of May as the last game from Atari, we'll release The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut. What's even cooler we're going to have a special, time-limited offer that will give you a 50% discount, so the game will cost you only $4.99!

As we're on the subject of The Witcher, we had more cool stuff about its upcoming sequel on GOG.com. Starting on May 10, everyone who pre-order The Witcher 2 on GOG.com will be able to pre-purchase the game and download 90% of the build, so they can play the game on release day! So if you haven't pre-ordered the game yet, you'd better do that before May 16! More details on The Witcher deals can be found here.

Pre-downloading such huge game like The Witcher 2 is some serious business, and you'd need some serious downloader to do that. That's where the GOG.com Spring Site Update comes in! Late April we'll introduce a brand new, improved and slick GOG Downloader which will allow you to download all your GOG games fast and easy. What else? Personal messaging will be now possible for all our users!

But that's not all! At the very end, spotlight was on your favourite French Monk, who had some news regarding new publishers coming to the site. Microsoft, Electronic Arts, LucasArts, Take2 and SquareEnix - one of those publishers is already signed, while two more from the list are almost on board! Which and when is coming? Well, you'll have to wait a bit for that :)

You can watch the video recap of the presentation here. Enjoy!

Cook: Thank you all for the kind words. It's thanks to you GOG.com is being so successful and it's because of you that we're doing all this. We hope you'll enjoy Alone in the Dark, The Witcher 1 and all other upcoming releases from Atari :)

And to all those who felt disappointed by new Atari titles, new downloader, PM system and The Witcher 2 pre-download option, we're sorry to hear that. But be sure we have some really great news and games coming this summer and it's definitely worth waiting just a little bit.

Once again, big thanks to all of you from myself and the whole GOG.com team!
We GOGers really are impossible to please. About time we got some more Atari stuff, and PMs are so sorely needed I can't be anything but thrilled about that coming.

Thanks guys.
Can we have the video on youtube, plz? :)
Good news!

Just finished watching the presentation. Really excited about whats coming and happy to see gog are doing so well on sales.
Will the new downloader still use Adobe's horrible, flaw-filled ADOBE Air?

Actually, I do harbour some resentment to people who take my money so, yeah, that means YOU GOG.com!

*gasp* You did NOT just thank us for being pleased with you guys! No you DIDN'T girl!
Cool ... I look forward to seeing the new games and website features. Congrats on getting Witcher 1 on here. :)

Nope. It will be a normal desktop app written from scratch for maximum performance in mind :). It will take advantage of segmented crc-checking per file (so in case of download errors, it will re-download a few megs for the broken chunk, never an entire file) as well as multi-thread download (for the best download speeds :).

We will try to launch a forum-only betatest of the app a little bit earlier before the site update - I will keep you posted about this :)

Whoa! Now this is awesome news, even though i use the browser for downloads, i'll definitely check this out! Thanks!:)
Well, I was right about The Witcher coming to GOG. Now I just need to hope that my five year old PC will be able to handle it. If not, I am glad more Atari titles are coming :-) Thanks, GOG!
Alone in the dark?

Iä! Cthulhu f'htagn!

My four year old computer didn't do too well when I tried it but that's probably more due to my cheap graphic card than its age (not really a gamer PC), so it might be different for you. I recommend downloading the demo.

The new downloader seems to be a really good app for me. The automatic error checking is a very good new feature - it happened with me that I downloaded the game with the downloader and I had to download a big part again, but thanks to this feature, this will never happen again.
Will GOG still support the downloading via web browser? I like downloading smaller games with web browser - and I think I can still download with it, but in the video, Trevor says "it only activates when you click specific download links on GOG.com". So can I download games with my browser after the new downloader will be released?
