CDP Days 2011 Spring Conference has just finished and everything is clear now. If you haven't been able to tune in to watch the live stream, don't worry. We've prepared a quick summary of our presentation with a video recap for your convenience. So, let's not wait any longer.

At the very beginning we had to brag a bit about how awesome the service is doing, of course thanks to you - our great users. And then, suddenly, the lights went off, creepy moans started letting out from all over the place while The EnigmaticT tried to discern something in the dark with his flashlight.

Worry not, it was the announcement of Alone in the Dark, that comes with Alone in the Dark 2 and Alone in the Dark 3 as free bonus materials! This great series starts a new wave of Atari games that will be available in the coming weeks! And on 10th of May as the last game from Atari, we'll release The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut. What's even cooler we're going to have a special, time-limited offer that will give you a 50% discount, so the game will cost you only $4.99!

As we're on the subject of The Witcher, we had more cool stuff about its upcoming sequel on GOG.com. Starting on May 10, everyone who pre-order The Witcher 2 on GOG.com will be able to pre-purchase the game and download 90% of the build, so they can play the game on release day! So if you haven't pre-ordered the game yet, you'd better do that before May 16! More details on The Witcher deals can be found here.

Pre-downloading such huge game like The Witcher 2 is some serious business, and you'd need some serious downloader to do that. That's where the GOG.com Spring Site Update comes in! Late April we'll introduce a brand new, improved and slick GOG Downloader which will allow you to download all your GOG games fast and easy. What else? Personal messaging will be now possible for all our users!

But that's not all! At the very end, spotlight was on your favourite French Monk, who had some news regarding new publishers coming to the site. Microsoft, Electronic Arts, LucasArts, Take2 and SquareEnix - one of those publishers is already signed, while two more from the list are almost on board! Which and when is coming? Well, you'll have to wait a bit for that :)

You can watch the video recap of the presentation here. Enjoy!

recognizer: What game made you go underground?

Ultima Underworld, duh.
That will be an Atari release - so not Ultima Underworld, unfortunately....
Watching the video now, looking good, just got to the gameplay :) Nice to see games made to take advantage of PCs and not just a port :)

Their DRM seems decent, a serial key is fine by me, unlimited installs etc, just one time verification. Hopefully no cd-check would be good, like Witcher 1 is now :)

I've got the collectors pre-ordered but I'm planning on getting a gog.com copy too (and so I can play while I wait for my copy to ship from overseas) like i guess a lot of people are so it doesn't really matter :)

recognizer: What game made you go underground?
Ultima Underworld, duh.

What game made you ride with the outlaws?
Full Throttle, derp.

What game made you dream of the stars?
Any one of the LucasArts space sims a la Star Wars X-Wing/TIE Fighter?

What game made you fear your past?
Any Tomb Raider game released immediately after Angel of Darkness, ofc.
All of these are Atari titles, ride with the outlaws is pretty much guaranteed to be Desperados. Which is a great game, I'm really happy about that, actually! The next best thing after fullthrottle.

spindown: Ummm... so this is it? All this buildup over the past few days, just to tell us... essentially nothing? Talk about anticlimactic.

Skystrider: Alone in the Dark along with six other Atari games to come, including The Witcher 1, and a new big publisher coming this summer with 25 more games. That's a quite a bit more than nothing, in my opinion. ;)

Plus, TW2 opened a can full of kickass if ever there was any! Skyrim had better beware.
Well, more Atari games is great, but I was watching this for the announcement of the new publisher, which was clearly implied would take place today. The only thing I really learned from watching this very brief announcement is that the big new publisher is indeed one of the "big five" and that a couple more may or may not be joining later.

They also didn't reveal the solutions to the clues, contrary to what they promised. Seems like all the clues are for the new Atari games, though. If after the excitement of the past few days anyone claims that this is what they were expecting, I think they are deluding themselves.

Don't get me wrong, I love GOG, but their marketing is really cheap. At least I've learned something for the future.
So can we all put our minds together and work out what Atari/Hasbro games relate to the clues given ?

- What game made you dream of the stars - Homeworld? / Outpost?

- What game did you ride with Outlaws - Desperados?

- What game made you feel like a hero - Quest for Glory?

- What game made you fear your past? - Inca?

- What game made you go to the underground?

kirghylommax: Way to disappoint, GoG. No new publisher? All of this for Atari? Um...no.
I love how there are people who base their information not only on things they didn't hear... but things they didn't hear YET.
I'm not sure whether I should insult their intelligence or attitude though ;P.

Oh my, such good news!

Now how will I manage to obtain all of the gold to give you in exchange...
if i re-read their original post correctly, i don't recall them ever saying anything about a new publisher coming on board, although i definately remember them saying we were gonna get some additional titles so..........why the bitching again?
Many praises to you all at GOG, you guys are the saints of the industry, continue onward in your holy crusade for gamers and our industry!

GOG wills it!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not as excited about Atari games as I would be in Lucasarts games, I'm still excited to see what we get.

Desperadoes sounds interesting.

I'm willing to overlook the marketing if they deliver on the goods. We need to rememberl these guys are programmers and developers - I'd take that over salesman or marketing golks delivering false promises.
Thank you all for the kind words. It's thanks to you GOG.com is being so successful and it's because of you that we're doing all this. We hope you'll enjoy Alone in the Dark, The Witcher 1 and all other upcoming releases from Atari :)

And to all those who felt disappointed by new Atari titles, new downloader, PM system and The Witcher 2 pre-download option, we're sorry to hear that. But be sure we have some really great news and games coming this summer and it's definitely worth waiting just a little bit.

Once again, big thanks to all of you from myself and the whole GOG.com team!
