A few years back I played an rpg which I can not remember the name of. The storyline of the game starts with the character as a young boy. You have to complete three very east tasks. Then the village you live in is overrun. Your young character is saved by a mentor because "great things are going to be your heritage/destiny", or some similar prophesy. The story line continues after the character has attended a school and is now old enough to "venture forth and fulfill etc" The different twist to the game was this. You could play and develop as a "good" hero. Or you could choose to become an "evil" character.

Part of what I remember about the game is there is a little sister in the starting scenario. And she shows up as you progress and gain levels. But she never sticks around until the final "battle" The final battle is where you gain control over a sword with great power. You know the wielder becomes ruler of the world. But a final twist after gaining the "miracle sword" is this. Your sister reappears and offers you a choice. Something along the lines of "Use the sword to slay me and become supreme ruler of the world" Or the other option destroy the sword and the worl is saved from tyranny/whatever"

Now the question I have is this. Does anyone else remember the name of the game?

The first part reminds me of Fable, and the second part reminds me of Two Worlds. But I think it's Fable.

SCPM has it right, though you shouldn't include spoilers in the description FYI. :P

Yeah, I'm playing Fable right now and it sounds exactly like it except I'm sure the choice is that you have to KILL your sister for her magic blood to gain absolute power, or whatever
And because I'm playing the PC 'Lost Chapters' version you carry on and get sent off to a land in the north as a built in expansion...

And, preferably, for those of us who use Barefoot Essentials:

The first part sounds as Fable. The middle sounds as Fable and the last part also sounds as Fable. I'm pretty sure it IS Fable.

Well, the OP never said "old rpg" he just said "a few years back" so I don't know where you got the "old" from. Then again, the game is not that old but I guess a lot of people would consider it old.
Thanks everyone. It was one of those games I played and really enjoyed. And now I can look for a replacement. Or see if I squirreled it away somewhere in the collection of cd's and dvd's. Please except my apologies for any spoilers I may have posted if you are in the middle of the game.

There's also a HD version released for XBox 360, doesn't seem to look THAT much better though..

Thanks for the link. Found the game last night. But one of the installation discs was scratched. Lots of other interesting games there too. I do remember that the sequels had ben released only for the Xbox 360. Which I do not own.
