Anyone used the "trygames" service in the past? I am sort of interested in buying Space Rangers 2, and the game's official page links to this: http://www.trygames.com/game/aff=egames/vid=7c8855369cc9ac044c7a339c004c4f7d
Which is slightly cheaper than the Impulse version, but their no need to be conected to internet part is what interests. If one can back up the downloaded files and re-install without internet connection I'd take that. On the other hand ... Impulsedriven has Space Rangers Complete 2 complete (original plus reboot).
Cheers,
-Mnemon
Never tried it, but this caught my attention.

I've used trygames a couple of years ago. You may have even used them without knowing it - they provide rebranded services to a huge number of partners.
They have what appears to be a one-time activation on each install, and I have actually had to previously contact their support to increase my activation limit (3 by default I think), as well as to use their refund service (now 48-hour, but I think it used to be 30 days) when I was *really* disappointed by one game I bought there (Trivial Pursuit). Both were (suprisingly) painless.
I should probably mention that the company is owned by RealNetworks and was owned by Macrovision before that, but all things considered it's one of the less painful approaches to DRM.

I've personally never liked anything from Real Networks. They lost the music war to Apple for a reason. The new big name out that is promising is GameStreamer.com and of course GoG.com is great. Steam is the only other one out there worth using but their catalog is small.
Well, thats me out
Not that I was going to buy it anyway, the only reason I tried is that it didn't have a price, thought I might be able to score a freebie

Yeah don't you love that. They happily display the price to you in your own local currency to give the impression they will sell to you, then nope, they shove that message in your face.
And this is clever:

Yeah I noticed that, nice of them to give you a list of things that have free demos...
Yeah but it just makes the section so useless.

Wow, at least Steam tries to disguise the fact by hiding unavailable titles...
Yeah, this is like saying "Look at this, isn't it awesome? Its one of the best things ever made! Oh you want it? WELL STIFF SHIT FOREIGNER!"
Yep, our zeros and ones which comprise our virtual currency transaction with their servers might give the dreaded lurgy or sommat. Assholes.

Yes, it's true. My ones and zeros are stockpilling weapons of mass cuteness.
