Specifically when I use the widescreen mod and my monitor's native res(1920x1080) the screen image is centered with a large black box around it. Is there a mod that stretches the image as well which I can use at the higher resolution or should I just run it at a lower resolution or in a window?

I'd post this in the ID forums but not many visit it so.....

Well you should never stretch. Black bars are good for 4:3 games.

That said isn't there a mod for IE games that put them into widescreen resolutions?

I'm using the mod and have it running in 1920x1080, but the image is centered in the middle of the monitor and is very small......with a black bar around it.

I'm guessing the widescreen mod doesn't stretch the image to fit the monitor being played on, it just ups the game's resolution.

Should I just run it in a lower WS resolution?

What about in-game graphic? Is it still centered or not? I don't know about Icewind Dale, but in Planescape Torment, it's normal if the image is centered during main menu when you applied widescreen mod above 1280x800 or equivalent resolution. The game itself still run without black borders..

And yes, you should lowered it. Personally i think anything more than 1280 or 1440 are overkill. It make the game looks so small.

Everything is in the right place and centered....just small since I set the resolution high with the widescreen mod. I thought someone might know of another mod that stretched the graphics to fit the screen at higher resolutions. If not i'll just lower the resolution and.or run in a window.

I haven't used it for Icewind Dale, but I know for other games it works fine at 1920x1200. The game world looks pretty small, but it fills the screen. Maybe you selected something wrong.... try starting the process over?

You should try lower it to 1280×720 or 1366×768.

I just installed that and nothing else though.

I'm gonna lower it in a bit to 1440x900, and see if it's better.

BTW what should I set in the config for cache size? It says it can go up to 999MB(minimum 172 mb) and is currently at 175 MB. I was thinking of increasing it to max.

But 1440 x 900 is 16:10 while your native is 1920x1080, 16:9. So the aspect ratio isn't correct. About the cache size, i didn't change anything.

Oh yeah forgot that......I use another monitor on another PC which uses 1440x900 so my bad....maybe 1366x768 then.

I only asked about cache size as it's a setting in the game's config and it says increasing it helps with load times between areas.

It's working better(bigger screen area) at lower resolution. So yes.
