Yes, they very often are. I'm not sure how one could have failed to notice this.

You make it sound as if this could get contentious. Worry wart.
I kinda feel she was just spinning her wheels here and saying the same thing, it's far too common and bad. I think one thing is that she needs to prove the trope is bad beyond anecdotal evidence. It really felt like just putting indie games on the chopping block of shame and not much else. I just don't see much to argue with, since there's really nothing new.

I'm just kinda wishing the backers gave to people that actually help women and not just harp about media.

Gazoinks: Ooh, ooh, let me start!

Inflammatory comment comparing someone to Hitler!
No you!
I liked the example of The Secret of Monkey Island being a good example of breaking down gender myths. I think adventure games sometimes get overlooked in these conversations which revolve largely around action or mainstream titles.

oh you know, the simple fact that both men and women get fat.

I wonder if fat jokes are also racist, maybe they're homophobic too...
Forget white shame, white male shame is all the rage now.

wish I was born a lady

Yeah, adventure games have an unusually large amount of competent female characters. Probably Roberta Williams' fault (isn't everything Roberta Williams fault?). :P

I think I'm glad for that. While I don't agree with everything she said, I can imagine how others might have shown their...ah..."disagreement".

edit: chatting online with an online friend about this. Apparently before the comments got disabled in the first one, she was getting regular death and gang rape threats. Let me retract my above statement: I am VERY glad comments are disabled!

You probably regret not being born a mulatto lesbian midget with no arms or legs... Social justice will never be possible until one of those becomes president.

No, no. Not yet. I will regret that in the future, though.

Yeah, youtube comments sections do tend to bring about a special type of arsehole.

Another channel I watch just dealt with a user who created four dummy accounts and proceeded to post thousands of threats and insults to his video comments sections, in the past he's even had someone get a hold of his girlfriends phone number and start threatening her directly.

probably the big reason is that adventure games tend to favor intuition, a trait seen as feminine while other games focus on violence, a masculin trait. It makes it less work to make a female cahracter seem viable in typical viewpoint of people in our current culture.
