So, I've recently tried Trine from the Frozenbyte Bundle and I got charmed. In fact, I've pre-purchased Trine 2. After trying the beta all I can say about it is that me gusta. Me fucking gusta.

Now, I'm not the one bitching about/praising the graphics, but it is wonderful, also I like the music. Gameplay is more or less the same, which is good.

Is any of you GOGers going to buy it? Fancy some co-op? (devs have added the online co-op option)

Yep I love Trine. Such a charming little game...

Not rushing to pre-order Trine 2, though I may get 2 copies - one on Gamersgate, and one retail copy (assuming Trine 2 isn't Steamworks)
already got it... my feedback so far... much easier than the first one, but much nicer graphics

It is quite possible that it will be Steamworks game, but it is not sure yet.
Here's to hope that it would be available DRM-free somewhere and that it would be actually optimized. The original was surprisingly harsh to my system.

EDIT: 13 EUR is not a bad price!

The original used PhysX which take lot of resources. I don't know about the sequel though.

Steamworks?

Hi guys, Joel from Frozenbyte here. Thanks for the feedback! I thought I could confirm a few things.

So yes, Trine 2 launches as a Steamworks game. It was simply the easiest and best way for us, and enabled easy multiplayer as well. We will look into DRM free options after launch though so some time after release we'll hopefully have that available for people who don't want anything to do with Steam.

Trine 2 uses PhysX as well. The game will run roughly the same as Trine 1 but thanks to the new engine (which enables online multiplayer finally), and the power of our artists, Trine 2 looks a lot better than the first one. :)

That's fantastic to hear, I couldn't care less about multiplayer and I'd much rather support a Steamworks-free version.

I would really love to see that. I bought Trine on a whim, thinking I'd give it shot, and was blown away by the game. Really, really good game. Fantastic. But I refuse to buy anything tied to Steamworks unless it's at a huge discount (less than $5) or it's something I probably won't care about. So if you guys do decide to come out with a non-Steam version that's not saddled with some other ridiculous DRM scheme, I'll be buying it in an instant.

The first Trine looked fabulous. Hard to believe Trine 2 could look a 'lot' better. :)
Trine was one of the most pleasant surprises I've ever had gaming. Bought it without knowing what is was and was blown away. I have been eagerly awaiting the sequel and can't wait to pick it up this December!!!

Thanks for the reply!

Can you please tell me whether there would a future update for Trine, like some bugfixes and stuff, or is the original done for good?

Also, any chance of it coming to GOG?
FB employee spotted!
First Trine was great, had to play it on PS3 though. Not good enough PC :(

It does, it runs smoother too. It may be one of the most beautiful games I have ever played. I feel that the backgrounds now is much more integrated as opposed to being purely eye candy, and I liked the water puzzles when I first stumbled on them.

I agree with Ubivis that it do seem a little easier - thought this is the first level and I guess is only introductory. I am not sure about the shared skill-points system, thought it seems like they come much faster this time around.

If the rest of the game can live up to the demo, it looks like this will be a great game experience. My worry is only if there is going to be a focus on multiplayer it may have an effect on singleplayer, I prefer to play it single...

Thanks for the input, amok. Looks like, assuming they do come out with a non-Steam version, that I'll grab this one.
