wormholewizards: The original used PhysX which take lot of resources. I don't know about the sequel though.
The original is playable (though by no means smooth) on my 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo laptop with 4500mhd graphics.

kavazovangel: Can you please tell me whether there would a future update for Trine, like some bugfixes and stuff, or is the original done for good?

Also, any chance of it coming to GOG?
We will probably update Trine at least once, I'd like to fix some gamepad issues and maybe some other minor things. The game should be in quite good condition though, is there a specific reason you ask?

As for GOG, I don't see any reason why not, but it's mostly up to GOG. I think we fit the 'good' definition but not sure about 'old' yet. :)

Alright, sounds great, thanks!

I was asking because I like creating my own installers for the games I purchase (preconfigure the resolution, game options to suit my system, add mods, change icons, remove third party stuff (DirectX and similar) from the usual installer, compress the files better if possible, that kind of stuff (for example, managed to get Trine down to 543MB (the installer in HFB was 663MB)). Was about to create one for Trine, but I'll wait to do that once the update is out.

The game was nearly bug-free, at least I didn't notice any bugs, maybe some weird things happening with the physics system once in a while, and some low framerates spikes, but other than that it was a great experience.

Just one suggestion, if I may... For Trine 2, can you please not put secret things directly in deadly places? :D I died so many times trying to figure out where exactly was hidden the only potion I was missing from the game... on a level with old ruins theme... A secret green potion was inside the deadly, gray, misty water / poison / whatever it is. :)

Anyways, good luck with the dev of Trine and its release!

Ah okay. :)

Yes indeed some of the XP vials got dropped to annoying places due to their physics. It wasn't intended like that but somewhat randomly (although more often than not) the ones placed high atop a narrow ledge drop down at the start of the level as the physics are being initialized. we haven't dared to fix them as it's a bit of a flakey system.

In Trine 2 that problem won't happen though. Can't wait for the release either. :)

Cool!

By the way, will we be able to pick up potions while they are falling from above? In Trine, most of the times, if a potion is falling and you jump to pick it up, it will just hit your character in the head, and fall to the ground. Only then you'd be able to pick it up.

It wasn't happening with all, but with most potions that were above your character's height level.
Yes I think that works a bit easier now. :)
Pre-ordered the retail collectors version today actually. Looking forward to playing it, I loved the original.

klaymen: Fancy some co-op?
I pre-ordered it and actually enjoy the game. While I'm (normally) lousy at that kind of games, I really enjoy multi player ones and would love to join you up, unless you mind somebody like me 'dragging you down'.
Anybody else going for a bit of cooperative fun?

Don't worry. I am no leet powergamer, you're most welcome to join me.

klaymen: join me.
Would you two be up for a coop threesome?
If so, when and whom of us would host (assuming we all three start at level 1 or 2)?
Or anybody else for that matter? ;)

Sure thing. Send me a message on Steam whenever you will see me there and we can play.

Link to my Steam profile is somewhere in the thread about them, or if you can wait until I come back from work, I'll send you the link via PM (posting from my phone is quite inconvenient).

I'm certainly not in a hurry (though I don't know about klaymen), so I wouldn't mind waiting a couple of days.
Just tell me a few possible times in advance and I'm sure we three can arrange a session.

The intention of the posting was more along the line of getting you two to mention a few time/day points when you could be found on-line and ready to play, so we three could figure out a date when all of us could be there without having to rely on pure chance and guesswork ;)

Oh, sorry :P
Weekends are no problem in general (about 1:00-8:00PM) and at work I have morning and afternoon shifts. When I work in the morning, I am generally available at ~3:30-8:00 PM, when in the afternoon, then ~9:00-12:00AM. Next week I have the afternoon shift.

Also now I've realized that we indeed are friends on Steam, it is hard for me to remember who is who, when some people change names on a regular basis and others' are just different from those GOG. And I am fully aware of the irony of me saying this because I use different name on Steam :P

klaymen has no issue hosting (tested it yesterday), so if you'd be up for it, let us know what times you'd be usually found on-line and we could try to get a game running!
We stopped at level 3 so that we could enjoy it as all three of us ;)
