TheCheese33: 11. The assholes in front of me reeked of pot. That's not part of the movie, but I can only assume that it is also Michael Bay's fault.
Epic. This line is full of win.

you have to be high to enjoy the movie?
This was Mark Kermode's review when Transformers 2 came out:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/markkermode/2009/06/transformers_190609.html

it was accurate.

This is the daily mash talking about transformers 3:

http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/arts-%26-entertainment/transformers-film-somehow-makes-giant-robots-uninteresting-201106284003/

I will not be watching it.

No (although it may be the case for this movie). It's just out of the whole review, that particular line actually struck me as particularly funny.
I'd like to see sheemalebroufh die and go to transformers hell in the next movie. Now that would be awesome.

these movies ARE transformer hell.

Virama: Fuck. I stand corrected. Still, my excuse is that they didn't have subtitles back in the day. But you're right, of course.
avatar
cogadh: But... the show was in English... and your profile says you're Australian.... I'm confused.
Why do English speaking people need subtitles?

Now look at my tagline.... "I can't hear you".

That is LITERALLY true. I'm deaf. :)
avatar
hedwards: OK, so I wasn't the only one puzzled by that. But then again, I know some folks from New Zealand that can't speak English, despite having grown up a presumably English speaking country.
avatar
Miaghstir: Then there's the fact that Virama is deaf, hence the title "I can't hear you". Though I assume that's a more recent disability.
Dang, ninja'd! :)

Nup, I was born profoundly deaf (read: completely) and have always been deaf. My true disability is my deteoriating vision due to RP - the scientific term for what I have is Ushers Syndrome.
The interesting thing is whenever I mention the word "syndrome" I get the feeling people automatically associate it with Downs and stuff like that. I'm perfectly normal FYI - I don't look weird or anything. For a syndrome to qualify as a SYNDROME there must be three or more disabilities that recur regularly TOGETHER. Mine are deafness, nightblindness and RP (retinitis pigmentosa) which basically means I've been slowly losing my peripheral vision since I was a kid.
Yes it sucks. No, I don't let it get me down anymore. I've lived an amazing life and continue to do so. :)

Anyway, back OT - sad to hear that T3 was so bad. I cannot believe they did the faux pas of the "nigga" transformers. :\ I'll probably end up watching it someday anyway but I'll make sure I'm completely smashed on vodka or something so I can just lol at how bad it is.

I understand that now, but I had no way of knowing that was the case when I posted before. After all, when you've got a forum full of joke taglines (like mine), why would anyone expect yours to be literal truth?

*grins* That's why I love it so much. It's a literal joke harrrr harrrr :D
This makes me really think here guys.

Am I that old to not understand why Bay has to fuck things to high hell just to get young people to go see his movies?

While it is awfully tempting to join in on the internet hate machine for T3, one that I was on for T2 (oh man, what a bad film) the general consensus is that it's better then it's predessor and well, that's good enough for me.

Like Galimatias said, the eye candy on the screen is the real reason to watch the film, and indications already put that above the previous films. A win in my book and all the reason more to imax this loud, clashing piece of movie.

I think we (internet folk) can be overly critical and expect unrealistic aims for source material that was, really, about one fight. The series itself was fantastic because of the action and the awesome transforming robots. From what I watched of the cartoon, the themes match up to that of the film, albeit without a megalomaniac with a fetish for action at the helm.

I think it's sometimes healthy to switch the brain off and feast on what must be an enormous effort from Industrial Light and Magic in bringing the transformers into live action. I hate Bay as much as you guys, but the effort from all the rest of the team looks top notch, I'm sure you guys could spare a couple of hours for that.

I'm going in with very low expectations, and I'm fine with that, since the CGI, fights, sounds and stunts will more them make up for it.

Some users or internet folks do kind of go overboard at times. Though the key issue here with Transformers is this. If you know and watched the original TV series when it first aired and then see how the live action has thrown in issues that are too unrelated and too much away from what it was. This is where the cry of foul comes from. We all know that it won't be exactly as we saw and remembered. We just wanted it to be somewhat on par to what the story is. The sick gag jokes of adult humor needs to be stopped. Like the little robot anybody? I haven't seen 3 yet so I cannot comment on it. Only on 1 & 2. Though I can tell you this. Bay needs to focus more on the Transformers and less on the humans. That's why I feel he hasn't gotten why his films failed. The humans get caught up in the war between the Autobots and Decepticons. I think Bay really needs to watch G1 in order to better understand what it is that's going on. Hell, the Animation movie of Transformers upgraded their content to both young and old and delivered really well a new wave of Transformers. The next generation of both Transformers and new human friends and enemies.
Bay's movie just delivered bad taste in our mouths and minds.

I know the 'main' purpose of movies like Transformers is the eye candy, but why on Earth does that mean I'm supposed to turn off my brain and let the movie mind fuck me into a stuppor? Transformers 2 had particularly awesomes fight scenes while the rest of the movie was directed at 14 year olds. It might as well have been "Not another teen movie... WITH ROBOTS!".

I don't feel like I'm asking much, if you're going to spend millions of dollars on CGI why can't you be bothered with even a mediocre script?!
avatar
Galimatias: BTW why do people go to movies like that and expect a spiritual journey with a satisfying katharsis in the end? It's like with Sucker Punch, you go to the cinemy, the lights go dark and in this very moment your brain should be turned off and just enjoy the eyeporn on the screen.

It's the same with all of the Bay movies too, imho ofc.
I adored Sucker Punch! Such a fun movie to see in Imax! Though, that worries me. I saw the third Matrix movie (I know, there were sequels!) in Imax and liked it and when it came out on DVD... not so much. :-\

I still haven't bought Sucker Punch on Bluray... just in case! :)
