So it's December, right? You'll probably be celebrating some sort of holiday soon, and with holidays come weird traditions that sometimes end up passed down through generations and sometimes just pop up out of nowhere and very vaguely have anything to do with the holiday itself.

This giveaway's all about the weirdly spontaneous kind of tradition, and it's based on one I've been coming back to for a while now--Duke Nukem 3D with the music turned off and Mannheim Steamroller playing instead. It's just not Christmas up at my place unless someone's blasting the crap out of aliens while other people are trying to have meaningful bonding experiences making cookies and putting balls on trees or whatever. This has been going on since Duke Nukem 3D was initially released, and it has never failed to make roommates and significant others go, "Your family really let that stick as a tradition? What were they ON?!"

So I'm giving away GOG codes for the following shooters:
Duke Nukem 3D (natch)
Postal 2
Rise of the Triad: The Dark War

The Rules:
- Anyone with positive rep can enter.
- You can only be in for yourself. No regifting or trading!
- You can win a maximum of one game.
- You must include a description of the weirdest holiday tradition you partake in, along with the obligatory "In for [title here]!" Bonus points to anyone who can make me laugh!

On the 18th, I'll pick a winner for each game at random and PM you the code. Or, if there are under three entrants, as soon as I get enough entries to be able to give away one game per person. I'm new at this giveaway stuff so I have no idea what kind of turnout to expect.
Not in, but thanks for the giveaway! :)
Nice giveaway - looking forward to hearing some funny ones.

Not in.
Not in, but +1 for you :)

Come on...Bueller? Anybody? Since it's randomized, the tradition doesn't even have to be real. :P

In for going Postal 2 on Christmas Day! Boom! Boom!

My family all gets together and proceeds to get really drunk and then starts arguing with each other to the point we almost all hate each other. Then we say grace and say what we are thankful for and everyone calms down and eats. Then everyone takes a nap. After an hour or two everyone wakes up and plays flag football. Its always the same. Ha!
We throw fireworks that "sometimes" land on neighbours houses or passing vehicles´windshields (it only happened once :P, the windshield one) , or blow halfway on the launch with the fallen spark chasing us all across the garden.
Heyyy, at least we didn´t burnt a park tree like our "fire from above" landing firework from our neighbours!
I guess they are the ones not approved by NASA.
I'm in for Postal 2, thanks Dashe and +1

My weirdly spontaneous kind of tradition is not really mine, but it's about my uncle.
He is crazy about snowmen and he wants to make a snowman with us for X-mas each year. The problem is there is not always snow where he lives for X-mas (Normandy, France). So, he created himself a plastic snowman with items from garbages content because he is too stingy to buy a fake snowman in a store (and because he thinks it's good for imagination to create things by yourself).
The "snowman" looks like everything except a snowman and each time we go to his house for X-mas, he invites us to help him to install it in the garden, with the plastic carrot (a toy for dogs, I imagine) for nose, tree branches for arms, bottle caps for eyes and a true dentures which I don't want to know where he found it !

This abomination remains in the garden until the new year, that's why I secretly hope each year there will be enough snow to allow him to create a true snowman and not something which come from an horror film !

I unfortunately don't have pics of "It", because some human creations should remain hidden to avoid nightmares XD

Not in,

but I remember that in my childhood, we had this wierd ritual: We placed a spruce right in the middle of the living room, decorated it with various stuff - homemade paper art, shiny balls and candles - and then we joined hands and walked slowly around the tree, singing various songs, some of them religious in nature. So crazy!

For clarity, are you in for something or just talking about awesome stuff you do with fireworks? I've accidentally shot one into the pool before. That went well. :P Did you know M-100s still detonate underwater?

No, not in. Just sharing some awkward experiences :P
What I do know is that even when you are 10 meters away from one tiny kind of "firework" and it blows, you shake from the noise, you feel a wind in your face and your naked arms (since it´s hot on christmas here :P), not just a "feeling", more like a burst wind hitting you and a thump in your chest.....and you end up asking yourself what the heck do they put inside that blasted (no pun intended :P) thing.
So yeah, four days left. Two games are gimmes at this point. :P Is there any protocol for unclaimed giveaway games or do I just do whatever?

I was hesitating to enter, but you seem to be in a tight spot.
So I'm in for "Rise of the Triad: The Dark War".

I don't understand why people don't enter. This is a nice and interesting giveaway.

A holiday tradition that my family has is to turn off the lights when the new year comes in. And by turning off the lights I mean completely turn off the electricity of the building, by swithing off the main power switch in the basement......
Not very good tradition if you play Doom at the same time..... Yeah, one year I had to reformat my pc, because the windows files became corrupted after the power failure.....

Merry Christmas everyone!
