This game is in early alpha stages, but what is there already is quite a lot of fun.

This is a FPS rogue like, with a graphic style very reminiscent of Borderlands.

The blurb as on the website:

"Tower of Guns is a fast paced shooter for the twitch gamer… with a few roguelike-like-ish elements to keep it fresh with each playthrough. Think of it like FTL or Binding of Isaac mixed with Doom2/Quake!

KEY FEATURES
SINGLE SITTING FULL EXPERIENCE: For all of those who have too many games (or too little time) this is a game you can pick up and play again and again without remembering where you were or what you were up to. If you’re gonna win, you’re gonna do it within an hour or two. That’s a big if though… it won’t be easy.
ALWAYS A FRESH EXPERIENCE: Random enemies, random powerups, random bosses, tons of unlockable items and weapons…even random-level compositing! You never know what to expect when you sit down in front of Tower of Guns.
CRAZY POWERUPS: You’ve played first person shooters where you can double jump, but have you played any game where you can centuple-jump? You can in Tower of Guns, with the right items.
GUN-MODIFYING MADNESS: A gun and its qualities aren’t tied together in Tower of Guns. Do you like rocket launchers? You’ll like them more if you’re lucky enough to stumble upon a “shotgun” modifier. A rocket-launching shotgun is very satisfying.
OLD-SCHOOL TACTICS: For the fans of the faster shooters, it’s all back: circle strafing, bunny hopping, rocket jumping. Tower of Guns is all about moving fast!
NO LIMIT LEVEL DESIGN: Hate invisible blocking walls that keep you from exploring a cool vista? I do. They’re outlawed in Tower of Guns. If you can see it, you can get to it…if you have the right items."

It is still very much in development, and the developer is not kidding when he says that you will die.... a lot... the whole premise of the game is that the tower will kill you.

Self-bumping this one. it is really good.

No, and there is probably a good reason or two for that. :P

But seriously, the concept of a FPS with Rogue-like game mechanics sounds interesting. Has this been attempted before?

Edit: Come to think of it, I haven't really seen any true 3D Rogue-like. Imagine a game like Dark Souls, but with fully randomized levels, monster placement and items. Awesome!

There are a few others, like , [url=http://codeavarice.com/]Paranautical Activety or Gentrive 2, and they are all very good in their own ways. But yes, this is maybe the most instant one with the highest pick-up-an-play factor.
Just wanted to toss my vote in for this game as well. I purchased it a while back when it was still in the early and very rough stages, and I have always had a blast with this game. It is a good throwback to old FPS titles, and is often full of some pretty crazy and hectic moments. Definitely worth checking out, and I can't wait to see what else the developer does with it before release.
TB was showcasing a 'cubic' roguelike FPS, can't remember the name right now. Thanks for the heads up anyway.

Sidenote : seems like people can survive through a gog catalogue and come back for even more ;) (I may be completely wrong though ... "memory" you know ...)

Nice. Thanks.
Now I feel bad not having recognized it on amok's list :)
It looks pretty awesome, I must say.

There is going to be a new build on Saturday, with some marketing and a promo. My guess it is going to be related to the new Humble Store.

I was wrong - ToG is going to be in IndieGameStand from Saturday. Get it then, it is going to be PWYW.

Other news - the new build is now up in Humble

"New in this build:

All ten “starting” weapons are now unlockable
"starting weapons"? Yes, that means there are MORE weapons you can find in game at secrets and in shops…though they are rare
All perks except one are now unlockable (so, ten so far)
A whole boatload of brother Mike’s new music is now in the game
THREE new levels to play through: The Armory, The Battlements, and The Sanctum.
More progress on room randomization. You can click on the “Dev Update” tab to see how far along each level is. The new levels only have one set of rooms so far, like usual for new levels.
new ‘Tilt’ mechanic (the ‘C’ button by default): now you can teleport yourself out of bad level design!
new items, enemies and boss (just one new boss this time).
lots of other little things!"
Now on https://indiegamestand.com/

"Pay at least $1 and receive a Steam key, if/when the game is greenlit. Beat the average for the games original soundtrack (over 17 tracks, here’s a sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZsAhSi5TVE) and Joe’s Armpit of Evil eBook (available on Amazon for $2.99). That’s not all! The developer is also giving away Original Hand Drawn art from the game to the top 10 contributors!"

I can't say it looks particularly interesting. I tried to look at it with "this can be good" eyes and failed. But if you want it then now is the best time to grab it. :)
Thanks for the recommendation, Amok :)

Great game and the new build plays great :D
Just in case you feel that a game can not have enough bullets :)
