HypersomniacLive: He just piqued my curiosity about the "French" Canadians - would there be a difference if they were English Canadians and if yes, what would make the difference?
People in the province of Quebec want to separate from Canada, and form their own independent country. That's why there's a law that any product in Canada has to have wording in English and French, because they also refuse to speak or learn English, also, I think some groups over there have committed acts of terrorism to encourage Canada to let them go.

I didn't know there were such nationalist feelings in Québec. On the other hand, I was aware they are 'more royalist than the Queen' regarding their stance about speaking French and not using anglicisms.
But I don't think that has anything to do with the whole Garry's incident incident.

Spinorial: LOOOOL, how profoundly stupid does this guy have to be to pick a fight with TB?! Their current Metacritic score is 0.6

ZERO. POINT. SIX.
I dunno how bad the game is but if you read some of this user "reviews" they are pretty clearly fanboy rages witch don't help anyone either... just sayn`

Watch the TB review video, you'll see just how bad it is. It's BAAAAAAAD! Like, hilariously stupidly bad. Should-never-have-been-published bad.

You are underestimating what a 'fanboy rage' can be in my opinion (But I'm not perfectly sure what you were making a reference to, though)

Edit : Oh! I think I just caught what you meant. If you are talking about the "0 rated' reviews on metacritic, yes I agree with you : most of this is plain mindless bashing. The game deserve to be low rated, but bashing is never constructive in my opinion.

The situation in Québec sounds quite serious and I wasn't aware of it till now.
But what does that have to do with this mess?

But what's the point of making a bad game? terrorizing gamers? I still don't get why it fell into "All French Canadians are designated villains" trope just because it's a bad game.

I dislike TB. But I too watch his review video for Garry's Incident and I have to agree with him. That game is just horrible. If you want worst glitches go search "I broke Day One: Garry's Incident" by Birgirpall. They found worse bugs there.

Also if we let them go with that action, there will be more youtube videos taken down because of low rating reviews. We have to fight them from the get go or companies will abuse it.

Yep this is exactly what i meant, i saw the vid in question i must say the game is currently really bad technically (lots of bugs, glitches and performance issues) but the devs must be new and not experienced yet so people gotta give em some air and give em some chance at least? The setting is good tho - survive lost in the middle of the jungle, but the execution... not so good..

It's current state looks more or less like pre-alpha than a finished release and this was probably the devs biggest mistake... but they can patch out the problems and add more content if they intend to do that... so people should't be so judgemental and bashing, imo,..

I followed the "development" for a bit. Sorry, but ... they completely bungled a kickstarter, they released a horrible product, they banned people from the Steam subforum for daring to point out bugs (calling it "developer harassment"), they tried to rig user reviews on metacritic in the most pathetic way imaginable, they abused youtube's copyright protection system to shoot a critical review down, and AFAIK they haven't released a single patch for the DRM-free version of the game so far. I'm all for giving people a chance, but in this case, they have just crossed too many lines.

These devs don't only seem incapable of producing a halfway decent game, they also show _way_ more scummy behavior than is acceptable, imho.

Actually they already got several games released before Garry and they received the same complains about bug ridden game from their previous games. Even their newest game Dungeon Gate also ridden with bugs that made people unable to start the game. Just check the Desura page.

I already done my homework, I bash them because:

They took advantage of youtube copyright take down system to remove bad review

They made copy pasted Metacritic reviews

Their previous games are problematic as well

They banned and deletes people who complained on Steam forums. It went so bad Steam's real mods need to go in and mod the forum themselves

They offer bribe (free game keys) for votes in Steam greenlight

So yeah, like I said before, I dislike TB for several reasons but I have to agree with him. The company use underhanded tactics to make sure that fools will spend their $20 for a game that's obviously still in Alpha or Beta and calling it a full game. It can be considered fraud in several countries.

A chance to do what? They had a chance to create a good game, and they created a mess. They had a chance to learn from the criticism people leveled against their game, and they threw a temper tantrum and tried to censor it. They had a chance to act gracefully, and they behaved like obnoxious children.

They created a bad game and then acted like shits about it, I don't owe them anything.

Unless there's lot more than seen in review video, I wouldn't go quite that far. Yes, it definately should NOT have been released at the horrendous state it's in and would need at least year of additional development time, maybe more. I did not check but was this a console port as lot of mechanics seem to imply console game design?

What ever the case is with the game, the TB incident is PR blunder of catastrophic proportions, not to mention how unethical and most likely illegal it was (I actually wish the network behind TB would sue the dev for false DMCA claim as precedent could make an effective deterrent against those who abuse the DMCA). I would not be surprised if dev will go under due to it. You reap what you sow.

Why am I not surprised that this happened again :P

" Fun Creator sent TotalBiscuit a "final message", warning him to delete all of his Twitter posts and delete his YouTube channel or else it would get the lawyers involved. They also said not to bother retweeting the email, because they would just claim it was a fake. He retweeted it anyway:"
