The right to Critique on gaming has been under attack and it might get worse unless people makes a stand to stop it.

EDIT: I bumped this thread because of recent yet similar incident that happened to TB.

A good salute to you, my friend, for spreading it around. Entirely agreed on the principle of it all, even if I was not a TB subscriber. I really hope we get some concrete reform before this becomes a big issue, which it inevitably will.
biscuit talk a lot, and takes forever to get to the point, regardless i get the concern, as he said it the developers seems to be bloody french canadian this should be enough to understand the situation
Good the they buried themselves by censoring the reviews , never buying it
Could some one explain to me what exactly is going on as I'm unable to watch videos at the moment thanks

It's not an attack on game criticism in general, just an attack on game criticism in video form that incorporates footage from the game. Big difference.

Video game criticism is not going to die because people can't use footage of games in Youtube videos.

That said, I would have thought that the right to use images of games for the purpose of criticism, whether a written or video review, was already covered under "fair use" laws.
Oh the sweet joy , the developer is already put another game up for greenlight vote it down folks

The people sent him a code to get the game to preview for his channel. If they really are that dumb to not know that he has ads running over it then that would explain why the game is in the state it is.

I saw people on another forum cheering this saying TB is a jerk so this was OK to do. Reading that made me shake my head even more than these people abusing the DMCA to try and censor a bad review. Abusing laws to silence criticism shouldn't be allowed, especially when it would threaten someone's job. Same if you agree or disagree with what is being said.

To be fair, if the game was as bad as the video implies, there wasn't much risk there...

But, I won't be buying any of their other games, and that's something that they should have thought about.
I generally don't mind bad games. In fact, I kinda like them for their own unique charm (Stalin Vs. Martians, I'm looking at you). But after this stunt, I have no desire to ever give these developers any of my money.
The guy that chose to shutdown the video must really regret it by now. I really feel sorry for him to be that stupid, how could he not forsee the shitstorm he actually summoned upon his head, his studio, and his future projects ?

They really should shutdown their website a little while.

LOOOOL, how profoundly stupid does this guy have to be to pick a fight with TB?! Their current Metacritic score is 0.6

ZERO. POINT. SIX.

From a response to Kotaku it seems that after seeing all the negativity that came from it, he (Stephane) withdrew his complaint to Youtube.

I remember the original vid and how horrible the game was. I also remember checking the forums and back then Stephane was already locking/deleting threads and in my opinion, being a real douche in his comments, pure and simple. Bad grammar aside, the style and attitude made you wonder if you were even talking to an adult, it was ridiculous. This guy should never be/have been in direct communication with his fanbase.

This best Personal Computer game. It love you long time. There are a few bugs which make the game slightly unplayable butother than that it real good. I am real human and totally not Stephen Wood plugging my product with a fake Metacritic review although I wish I were because he so handsome and sexy.
*snort*

On a more serious note, see their other project's Greenlight page here. Click to page 6 of the comments. See how they're all "YES do it give it to us" and "I love open world RPGs and yours seems to have a nice twist." and "This would be a nice edition to Steam :) voted and good luck!"?

See how the comments after this happened (the first five pages) are all "The devs are scammers do not vote.." and "Horrible developer, not worth upvoting" and "Not happening, your dev is shit" and "Downvote ALL "Wild Games Studio" games! Childish company that cant take a review"?

And that--putting aside the ethical question and considering it from a purely business point of view--is why you do not do shit like this.
