The little Doctor Who chat reminded me that the trailer for the new American made Torchwood has been put up. Looking interesting
American made? This better not be like Being Human.
Torchwood to Doctor Who, especially what's shown here, reminds me of the original The Day The Earth Stood Still and the remake. It's like, wow, you've really missed the point and have actively worked to make this a thing that is devoid of any thought or intelligence, and replaced it with explosions and idiots. Way to go.

Russel T Davies & Julie Gardner are in charge and they have some quality American writers like Jane Espenson on board. I'm hopeful. They obviously wanted Doctor Who but by throwing them this bone they will hopefully leave Doctor Who alone. Shame we are unlikely to see Jack in Doctor Who again though.

Torchwood series two had already gone the way of the 'splosions and it was much, much, much better than series one as a result.

looks good. Looking forward to it. I don't want Jack back in Dr. Who, he was another RTD creation that was overused, I think he settled better in torchwood (though I wish they'd put less plot emphasis on the fact he can't die, it was the plot device to every episode).
STARZ? Nooooooo. I don't get STARZ.
"Season" 3 killed all desire for me to watch Torchwood.

What the hell? Children of Earth was brilliant!

Have to agree - best torchwood they did.

It was too moody and managed to, despite its short length of only five episodes, drag on.

***Spoilers***
That, and they killed off my favorite character, who was the only one I found bearable once season 3 rolled around.
***End spoilers***

They managed to take Captain Jack, who was awesome in Doctor Who, and twist him into something moody and boring. Gwen is a flat character with little emotion, and Rhys is, well, Rhys.

Ah... from your post I got the impression it was going to be an American remake, but I see that it's set in the same continuity and with some of the same characters. It looks like it's a co-production, apparently it's still partially set in Wales...

Yeah it's Starz/BBC America. Jane Tranter, Russel T Davies and Julie Gardner the old Doctor Who production team are in charge and of course John Barrowman and Eve Myles are back. Some of it is set in Wales but thanks to the destruction of Torchwood Three in Children of Earth it's effectively moving Stateside.

Wikipedia told me it was a BBC Cymru/BBC America co-production and that it was just being aired on Starz, but then that was Wikipedia...
The premise sounds interesting, I just hope they don't drag it out too much like other American dramas.

Yeah, it was the first time torchwood really lived up to its potential. There were enough pretty good episodes spread over the first 2 seasons to make half of a good season but there was way too much wasted potential, way too much gratuitous titilation and FAR too much burn gorman, fuck I hate him
